Two issues here
1) Slip wearing - personally I don't have a problem with a non-lacy half slip. A lacy slip would make me feel weird and most of the tube style slips ride up because they don't allow enough movement. I found some non-lacy slips in the US with side slits and they are perfect. Full slips would never suit because thankfully I have nothing to put in top.

2) Skirts whilst hiking - great. Did it when in Hawaii and had no comments. The difficult is that if you have an unpleated straight skirt (such as the cargo I was wearing), climbing over rocks and streams can be a bit of a problem. I saw a woman wearing a double layer pleated skirt and I thought that would be a bit more practical. The next day i went hiking in pants and it was far more uncomfortable - hot and sweaty then getting cut in half when you climb over rocks etc. The only advantage of pants was that I was not at risk of flashing my knickers

Since, if properly worn, the lace on an underskirt (to avoid the use of that "other" term) doesn't show, so what's the bother? The lace, actually, being a bit more coarse, helps keep the underskirt down and in place so things don't ride up (they shouldn't, anyway, if the size is gotten right). I have two moderately long lace-bottomed ones (21" / 53cm) that I wear under my longer skirts and I've never worried about them showing. I also have one the same length that has a slit in it (that I wear towards the rear) that works well, too. If I'm going to be wearing something really flowing (like my peasant skirt) I'll wear the one with the slit in it (no lace) so I can really get my legs moving; with the other skirts, it doesn't matter so much, so either will do. In short, if it doesn't show, why care. The thing is a functional piece, not a show-piece.

Definitely in this case, shorter and more flowing (wider hem) the better so one's legs can really stretch and move. Jumping around on rocks takes work, skill, and concentration. Having your garment get in the way is a "Bad Thing". I supect that wrap-skirts would work very well in this regard as the hem is free to move in all sorts of ways.

Unless you're "going regimental", modest briefs shouldn't pose a problem. You may actually show more at the beach (many women do).

I have no problem with the length or lace on a slip. It just feels right to wear one under skirt/kilt

peeking out slip

Post by Since1982 »

Well, if a slip does get out of place and peek out from under your skirt to the point someone notices it, at least you're being noticed for something humorous that can bring the friendly "It's snowing down south" comments from passersby. Being noticed for anything humorous to me is far better than being a penguin or other noticably unnoticed person. Anything I forgot to notice? ;) :D  :wall:

I wear my kilt regardless of windy weather. I find that the wind usually blows it between my knees and up a bit but seldom at the back. Unless of course your in the city where the updraughts from the buildings etc can cause it to blow right up all round . My sporran helps at the frnt and because I normally wear pants underneath its no problem. Most people in Scotland expect thats what happens when a man wears a kilt.
I got out of my car once at the SECC exhibition centre and because I was at the side of the car the gusts lifted my kilt way up. What I didnt know was in the car next to me were 3 girls having their sandwiches. They wound the window down and said....pity your wearing navy knickers but the legs arent bad.......I was quite uplifted.

Society has the role of the woman in charge..Its ok for a womans skirt to blow up with nothing on under it..When it happens to a guy in a kilt..He could be charged for indecent exposure..I see no differance..

Windy Day

Post by me012247 »

Well..had my 1st experience along the beach on a windy day. Man, the wind blew my pleated skirt up exposing my black slip more or less all the way in the back. Only a older lady had a big laugh. The rest was a bit confused ;)

Youre right David. Ive even had girls lift my kilt to see what if anything is underneath but if I tried it with their skirts.............
Its funny in Scotland some women have this desperation to find out if you have anything underneath and Ive had all sorts of experiences to prove this.

Worn underneath

Post by Since1982 »

I prefer if they ask me if there's anything worn underneath. I can then use the old saw "Nothing's worn, it's all working perfectly".... I see no reason to tell anyone exactly what I wear under my skirt any more than it's my business what anyone else wears under their trousers, skirts, dresses or anything else. Like it's a stranger's business that I wear a slip and jockey shorts under my skirt. Maybe a prevert would care, I certainly don't. (I intentionally misspelled pervert, I like the misspelled way better)... :naughty:

Ive actually only had it happen 3 times I can recall where a girl lifted my kilt but because of the large amount of pleating it was lmost impossible to see what I was wearing. I think here in Scotland its the are you a true Scot thing that raises the curiosity and I dont mind.
On the post subject, I have had mny instances where the wind has blown my kilt up but as I always wear pants underneath its not a problem . It just seems to be accepted that you have navy pants underneath. I wouldnt go out with nothing under as I dont believe its decent or hygenic.

Truckdriver stories notwithstanding, just where is it okay for a woman to intentionally flash their lack of underwear and men are not? I have yet to hear of such a place. I assume women are charged just as men are. Come to think of it, the popularity of "Girls Gone Wild" type breast flashing encouraged by getting underage girls drunk to film and sell speaks more to the power of men in society than women.
