Using the Restroom and Fear
Using the Restroom and Fear
When wearing a skirt, especially a brightly colored one and also wearing a women's purse, pantyhose, and heels, do you fear going to a public restroom? Because of Trump, in the USA we can no longer use the women's restroom if we feel so inclined. Why would we want to use the women's restroom? I can think of only one legitimate reason.
If we are in redneck country in the Southern USA, there is a chance that some redneck will beat the crap out of us in the men's restroom. If we were allowed to use the women's restroom we don't have to fear this unless Big Bubba is standing outsize the women's restroom waiting for his girlfriend to come out. Therefore it is still a problem.
As a result of these fears, I only use the all gender restrooms. Thoughts and comments please.

Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
A person who knows or believes things has to decide if their desire for fashion freedom overrides their need to feel safe. If you're in a situation where you honestly believe your safety could be at risk, then you have to decide if it's worth it to dress as you would like to. Is it right, of course not, but maybe better to live to skirt another day is better than being injured for a statement. Personally, my life has sometimes meant being in those situations due to circumstances beyond my control, rather than a choice of my own.

Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
I have no fears of the men's room. Given the death threats to guys using the women's online, I'd say the hazards are less.
Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
I’ve always used the men’s room while on my jaunts, malls, restaurants, multiplexes, other than the occasional odd look and double take, I’ve never had a second’s worth of trouble. I go in, take care of business, wash my hands then split. For whatever it’s worth, I make a point of limiting my fluid intake on days I go out so I don’t have to make pit stops at all.
I don't want to LOOK like a woman, I just want to DRESS like a woman.

I paused to check the rules and didn't see anything, So I'm going to give the same advise I follow and would suggest to women who fear being assaulted for USA members. Get a concealed carry permit and a gun and learn a thing or two about it. Even a small 38 special is plenty. There are some considerations of course, most of which I've found to be overblown. Odds are you'll never even draw it, and even if you do odds are you wont have to actually shoot. Better be prepared than be on the losing side of assault and battery.

Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
I find it uncomfortable in a skirt using the mens toilets. I would not use the urinals unless i was bursting. Instead i disappear into a cubical. I've never had any problems though. Not even a side-eyed look. Men in the UK dont socialise in toilets. In and out. If somebody did have a go then I would fight back. That's unnecessary to say because i've never faced any agression in a skirt.
Would I use the ladies loo? No.

Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
I use the urinals in the gents all the time, without any bother. In the UK, nobody talks, we go in, eyes down at our own equipment, do the business, quick wash and away out. In some ways, I am faster in a skirt than others who have to mess around with zips. Confidence as always is king.
Daily, a happy man in a skirt...
Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
Never had any issues here either. It's a no talk environment. Maybe you get a thanks for holding the door up.
It's going to be a forgotten issue soon though, all places doing renovations seem to make them all unisex stalls and if they have a urinal, it's in a separate room/stall marked as such.

I can see where it would be a good idea to carry concealed, however, there are some states that if you use lethal force (a gun) when being assaulted by someone using fists and feet only, you will be convicted of murder or manslaughter. In those states it is legal to use a gun if the person assaulting you has a gun or a knife.timemeddler wrote: ↑Thu Apr 24, 2025 8:40 pm I paused to check the rules and didn't see anything, So I'm going to give the same advise I follow and would suggest to women who fear being assaulted for USA members. For that reason, I always carry pepper spray. I don't know how affective it is, and I don't want to ever find out by having to use it.

Re: Using the Restroom and Fear
There are two types of restrooms in existence in our society today:
Those for cis-gender female (humans with vaginas), and those for everyone (completely unisex).
Thus, all men's rooms are also women's rooms, but not all women's rooms are men's room.
There are no men's spaces anymore. This thread is moot. Since all "men's" rooms are legal and open to females, then they are also "women's" rooms. Thus we all visit women's rooms every time we answer the call of nature in a public toilet.
I'm seeing this more and more.
Oh, and FWIW, I have always used the "men's" spaces, and I suggest you do the same.

A) I don't WEAR a women's purse. I CARRY a bag, of some kind.
B) Pantyhose, for me, are medical grade compression hose.
C) Heels - They don't come big enough for my feet.
D) I've never felt fear when going to a public restroom. I go in, lift the front hem and take care of business.
IF you want to dress that way, IMHO impersonating a woman, that's your choice.
Me - I wear a typical men's shirt with my skirts, and a straight hem shirt over a solid color dress.
You're so hung up on impersonating a woman, using feminine traits 100% of the time - it's disturbing.

That is not what Skirt Cafe' is about.

Re A gun for protection, Most places in the world that is not an option.
Here in the USA it varies state to state, Contact a certified / licensed instructor to learn about guns and the legal issues in your location.

Since I was a little kid at school I’ve always felt uncomfortable using urinals. I don’t like doing my business while others are beside me and I get paranoid and anxious. If I need to use the restroom which is rarely then I use the cubicles and lock the doors.
My name is Arty. I’m a guy with a passion for wearing skirts, dresses and tights and a hobbiest musician and artist.

not aware of any states where that's literally the case, but there are some where you have duty to try to retreat, or de-escalate. Personally if they're already on top of me, coming out in one piece matters more than trouble from some technicality. Just get familiar with your states rules.jamie001 wrote: ↑Fri Apr 25, 2025 12:34 amI can see where it would be a good idea to carry concealed, however, there are some states that if you use lethal force (a gun) when being assaulted by someone using fists and feet only, you will be convicted of murder or manslaughter. In my country, we don’t need to take weapons into a toilet.
I don’t want to visit or go anywhere near a country which permits or condones such behaviour.
I feel sorry for those of you who live in such fear.
