In praise of Snag tights
Re: In praise of Snag tights
I think, looking at their site, the target market is clear. And to be fair, most fashion excludes their target market, a great percentage of the female population, Mrs Mouse included. Their founding member, started the company because she couldn't find tights that fitted her. So it is not surprising that the company is dedicated to serving similar women folk.
I would suggest that the company is doing well serving their target market, as can be seen from most of the models they show on their website. They sell tights in size 4-6, but show almost no models in those sizes. So given that they are excluding some women in their marketing, it is reasonable for them to exclude us men as well.
I am a designer, and when designing things, I use all manner of components from any source to complete my designs. So a widget made to work for one application, will be selected by me, to perform a function in a totally new application that it was never made for. In a similar way, I take clothes designed for one body and use them for my body, if they fit and work in my style. I don't wait for widgets to be marketed to me, I take what works.
I suggest we just work out what size works for our bodies and order away. If it gets to a point where a great percentage of something is being sold to men, they will naturally start to market to us, as they are already doing with their boxers.
It is really nice when brands start to recognise MIS, but the bottom line will always be sales volume.
The other thing to note is that marketing is getting very targeted to a person. So I get emails from many brands asking if I would like to buy more skirts, boots with heels, etc. There appears to be no gender bias to what is marketed to me. The sad fact is that my Amazon has on occasions suggested a skirt or tights to me and I have gone, Yes! that looks good, BUY.....

Re: In praise of Snag tights
So, when I had to order "Raspberry Pie" tights from Snag for my pink skirt, I also ordered a few other pairs while I was at it. One of the pairs was "Marl Tights, Colour Atlas" which I have taken a fancy to. I thought they would go well with my green boots, However after taking the pictures, I was not so sure. What do the team think?

The service I got from Snag was good, with each pair being delivered in a stripped paper bag.

Seriously mouse, i really like them. One thing about snag tights is they generally all feel good. 50% of skirts for me is touch. If they look good but dont feel good its a no. In fact feeling good in my clothes can override what i look like.Mouse wrote: ↑Sat Feb 22, 2025 11:43 am So, when I had to order "Raspberry Pie" tights from Snag for my pink skirt, I also ordered a few other pairs while I was at it. I just bought a pair of snag footless tights in orange, red stripes. A bit pricy but you can tell they will last and are very cosy.

Mouse, I think they do well with the boots. Not in your usual pop way, but it looks coordinated and the colours blend nicely.

Hi, I have now been wearing 80 Denier Snag tights for around 6 years after religiously wearing M & S ‘Bodysensor’ tights, which would always be uncomfortable at the waist.skirted84 wrote: ↑Wed Dec 25, 2024 1:46 pm I think there has already been praise of Snag tights on here but I can honestly say they are the comfiest and best fitting tights I've had. Simply the black 80 denier. And partly due to the substantial elastic they don't need pulled up every 2 minutes, or even 2 hours. Not a Xmas present but arrived quite recently and definitely not my last from them. My new favourite, previously M&S.
I know they have had their share of controversy but their products are top quality.
After wearing nothing but plain black, I got my wife to order a couple of pairs for me, including the ‘Beach Bum’ turquoise shade. In fact, my wife was keen for me to compare them for size with the black version, which she thought was to small although allegedly the same size. I did agree with her, but since then I’ve always worn the many coloured pairs, & hardly ever black.
I mainly wear under trousers in the winter (very cold here, plus leg & knee issues) but very comfortable with shorts or a skirt.
The Snag website doesn’t seem to be pushing the Unisex aspect as much as it did, which is a great shame. They have a great long lasting durable product which I’m sure a lot of other guys would enjoy wearing if they promoted the male wearing thing a bit more.
