I don't think that the sort of individual that would engage in such a behaviour would understand enough to properly process such a result. We're not dealing with the "top of the food chain" type here. Give 'em six months in the House of Correction for the first offence and double that for each successive one.

If MIS should gain traction, I suspect that we will see more such behavior.rivegauche wrote: ↑Sat Aug 31, 2024 8:57 am
A pub in Inverness where the waiters wore kilts has had to convert to trousers because of the constant kilt lifting by women. I suppose it isn't good business to prosecute your customers.
There was never a rule forbidding females to lift the skirts of males. Not needed, with males being trapped in trousers.
Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
Can we please stop using the word “gender”? Gender and biological sex are entirely two different distinct things. The word to use in the title for this post is “biological sex”.

Mods! MODS!! Lock this thread at once! It's bound to be highly divisive and it will end with the mother of all flame wars!

Calm down Jamie001,
When this thread originated(2018), "Gender" wasn't thought about as much as it is today(2025).
Everyone new, or understood, what was meant.
It doesn't matter who the person is, it's the concept that 'up-skirting' is wrong.
Also, gender was a polite way of asking what the sex of a baby/child was(boy or girl) at birth.
At one time, telling people you had a 'gay' time at a party meant that you had a happy,
fun-filled time at the party. Now, 'gay'(in general) means something totally different.
(Add the letter 'e' to gay, capitalize the 'g', you have the first name Gaye.)
Please stop trying to conflate idioms from the past into today's meanings.
You'll cause more problems(trouble) than you want to have.

In addition, back in 2018, there was a character limit on the length of a post's title. So as the starter of the thread, I could not have made the title,
"Upskirting - Should the biological sex of the wearer matter?" as that would have exceeded the character limit!
One can see that the title of the second post in the thread, got truncated automatically to,
"Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the wearer matte" due to the character limit for a post's title back then.

I think that gender is the correct term as it is how people portray themselves in public, regardless of whether it reflects their sex as in most cases.. We might never know a person's sex ................ Although upskirting might reveal such persoal information and another reason why it is not acceptable for anyone.
My name is Anthony, please accept me for the person that I am.

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
If the question was, "Should the identity of the person wearing the skirt matter?" Then, issues of gender wouldn't factor into the resolution.

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
I actually wonder if the identity of the skirt matters any more than the person wearing it.
This thread lies under the main heading of "Advocacy & Mens Skirts "(sic - for lack of an apostrophe). I would rather the main heading was simply "Advocacy & Skirts". We have some lady members and I'm sure they sometimes wear skirts and the skirts I wear are my skirts although some do have a label in them along the lines of "women's wear". Many of us probably wear skirts that were initially being sold and intended for women. Surely a skirt is just a garment so why use the term Men's skirts?

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
My understanding is that the cafe is supporting/promoting the wearing of skirts by men. I think 'Advocacy & Mens Skirts' refers not to skirts for men but the skirts (not mens or womens) that a man owns and chooses to wear. The plural of a man's skirts as opposed to skirts for men.Sepchugang wrote: ↑Thu Jan 09, 2025 4:48 pm

But I am impressed by the ladies who share this forum, thank you so much.

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
I think we're splitting hairs here.
Gender.... sex...either way, looking up someone's skirt is inappropriate.

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?
Proud / sad to say it doesn't matter who is wearing the skirt and who is taking the picture it has been an offence here in Scotland since 2009 and I have seen every combination being prosecuted successfully.
So no, it doesn't matter - and to think my mum was worried about me wearing patent shiny shoes as a child in case you could see up my skirt, at least it wasn't pictures that could go all round the world in an instance.
