Skirt Cafe is an on-line community dedicated to exploring, promoting and advocating skirts and kilts as a fashion choice for men, formerly known as men in skirts. We do this in the context of men's fashion freedom --- an expansion of choices beyond those commonly available for men to include kilts, skirts and other garments. We recognize a diversity of styles our members feel comfortable wearing, and do not exclude any potential choices. Continuing dialog on gender is encouraged in the context of fashion freedom for men. See here for more details.
Got an email pushing a "sale!" and had to click - this brand often has men's skirts so I was curious (also have a few printed skirts from them that I like). Ran across this option, and figured it might gin up some discussion since controversial stuff increases engagement
In all seriousness though - this is pretty awful, if you ask me. I am intrigued at the idea of a half-skirt - perhaps you could layer this over a longer skirt in a contrasting color. But they model it over pants. If anything, it's a "bottom cape". I think I'll leave my commentary at that.
The name is a turn-off. The pictures are poor, and the description totally inadequate. The modeling is not worthy of print; but the skirt itself 'might' has some merit if the above issues were addressed! Price seems right, but shipping nearly doubles it, and I'm cheap.... se la vi
Agreed Coder and Faldaguy.
Cheap, so don't expect too much OK.
Almost a skort in reverse, I remember a 70s hotpants/skirt combination that might work with that.
Why not, nothing ventured, nothing gained.
Steve.
The photos are so bad, it took me a few looks to see that the front was missing. I think they would have shown the garment off better with contrasting pants, leggings or skirt.
The idea of a layered look to skirts is one we could take forward, but over trousers, it just reminds me of school when we used to tie the arms of our jumpers round our middle, with the jumper forming a skirt at the back, when the day got hotter and we didn't want to carry a jumper from class to class.
I want to try out the polar opposite - shorts at the back with a wrap at the front. I've seen this style out in the wild a few times but I haven't really come across it in my shopping. Doing a bit of searching, it appears that "wrap shorts" is the closest match. On some sites, such garments are still labeled as being skorts.
1) with the kind of tops I wear, it just didn't look right (I think it needs a crop or athletic-style shirt, something on the tighter side)
2) perhaps I needed to size up, but take a look at the photo where the model is bouldering - the "flap" doesn't go all the way across and so it's effectively like wearing a pair of biker shorts with a side flap. I bet some of those skort options would fit similarly.

As an aside, I came across "bath towel shorts" on Amazon. Face facts guys, these are skirts to be sure
Yeah - it looks to me like the skirt is too skimpy (particularly at the front). I think if they put more material horizontally into the wrap then it would maybe work better.

For sure - I have a pair of their pants, and construction-wise and fabric they are great - so I really wanted their skirt to work.

FranTastic444, I believe the garments with frontal flaps are called "scooters."
Thanks. I did some searching on that term and, in most cases, it just showed up skorts. Scooter and skater appear to be synonymous. In some instances, scooter is reserved for kids clothing.
you know... george orwell warned us!

I saw something similar, if not identical on one of the alternative(punk/goth/rock) online clothing stores here a few weeks back. Same dark on dark pictures that make it hard to see what it is.
If I have to wear trousers under, there really isn't much point to it. Well, I'm sort of okay with wearing trousers under loose fitting dresses, especially if they are on the short side, in which case its more of a tunic on my rather tall body anyway.

For me I wear skirts for the cooling effect and the freedom of movement. I don't wear them as a fashion statement. If I have to wear pants the reasons I have for wearing a skirt are gone so I see no reason to wear it over a pair of pants.
Just my opinion. I do me, you do you
