I purchased a 2 pack set of women’s leggings from my local Matalan and they are the most comfortable leggings I have worn. They had my size in a size 24 but I’m thinking of getting another set in size 20. I’m looking forward to pairing them with my pinafore dress and timberland boots. I’ll maybe pair them with my kilt in the weekend. I am finding clothes designed for women more comfortable to wear than men’s but when I dress I try to mix feminine clothes with masculine clothes.

I’ve still to buy a nice pair of 10 denier sheer black tights (pantyhose) but still don’t have the bottle yet to wear them. I usually wear leggings or thick opaque tights. I’ll also need to buy more skirts and dresses and experiment more with colour amd style.

If you are wearing them under a skirt or dress then footless tights make a good option too. Although sometimes they also refer to these as leggings, however you can't really wear them without anything over as you can with standard leggings.

Footless tights sound a good option as I always wear a skirt, dress or long t-shirt with standard leggings anyway as I prefer that look. I’ll probably try and get opaque footless tights as I’m still a bit shy to wear any form of sheer hosiery that’s under 60 denier.

I have tried leggings and tights as a means of continuing to wear mini skirts through winter. My problem is that the waist band of these are higher than the waist level of my skirts which becomes a problem when needing a pee, something that can become quite frequent with the combination of age and cold weather. I am exploring the option of wearing a short dress, loose around the waist, with a pullover on top so it still looks like a skirt and gives the necessary warmth. Often I wear very long socks which work well unless doing a lot of walking where I need to regularly hoist them up surreptitiously in order to hide some bare thigh.

I've found footless tights to be a good way to keep warm. I fully understand and experience the issue with cold and age needing to pee regularly. As we always say wear what you're comfortable with.

WHY must clothing continue to be separated into "Womens" and "Mens"

Leggings are made to fit any person, not just women
Tights are made to fit any person, not just women
How many male ballet dancers do you see wearing knee-high hosiery

Is calling an item of clothing you're wearing, by choice, 'Womens', really
a sneaky way to say 'I'm doing something bad or illicit

Doing this 'Labeling' is only promoting the existing stereotypical thought patterns.

You want to stop these patterns

I constantly had problems with lightweight tights with runs or worse ripping. Then I found Shertex that wont run or Rip even in the sheer versions. While I prefer colors, I some that are a shade of Nude thats close to my real skin color.

I absolutely agree with you that all clothing should be unisex and worn by any gender be it skirts, dresses, pantyhose, tights leggings etc. I had actually said the same thing to my partner that all clothes should be unisex. However, try telling this to a majority of the population out there who still thinks there is a barrier between men and women’s clothing for men. I was only being specific by describing them as women’s leggings.

In an ideal world men would be accepted wearing women's clothes just like women are accepted wearing mens clothes. It’s the clothing industry and men themselves I blame for this gender labelling of clothes because if more and more men were like us and stuck two fingers up at this gender labelling of clothes then this gender labelling of clothes would be a thing of the past. Women were able to do it and men can too.

IMHO, we're all capable of understanding the definition of 'Leggings' and 'Tights'.
If you use 'Panty Hose', that automatically describes the wearer.
'Hose' for men are, generically defined as, 'Socks'.

I should wear special compression panty hose as they were proscribed by my Doctor.
I don't wish DVT(Deep Veined Thrombosis - a.k.a. blood clots) on anyone.

Yep. I saw the title and I was like, "hrmmm".

I don't call my skirts "women's skirts" - I call them "skirts". The same with anything I choose to wear - it's a bit unnerving at first - to take this approach you have to fly in the face of what's on the label (rebel against the system ) and you have to realize a lot of people won't agree. But that's OK.

The ones that come to see it this way might start thinking differently about clothing, and eventually someone who this matters to will be impacted in a positive way.

Okay, I should have worded it better but I was trying to say that Leggings that are supposedly made for women are more comfortable than sports leggings that are supposedly made for men. Like yourself and other skirtcafe members I know that any gender can wear skirts, dresses, tights and even pantyhose.

My first leggings a few years back were men's - for bicycling. Worked great and looked and felt good. Since then my wife had purchased leggings for me from wherever - some the same as what she wears, just one size larger. Now I have many pair and wear them with kilts whenever the weather cools off. In warm/hot weather it's usually just a kilt and flip flops for me.

These days I don't always follow my Doctor's advice about wearing the hose daily
Yes, they're a hassle to put on, and take off but, at the end of the day,
my legs do feel better and the swelling(from edema) is greatly reduced.

Hunting for a O.T.C. replacement due - as of this writing - the 'brand' is out of production

FYI, this topic is really close to getting put into "off topic" as (1) "leggings" are not skirts and (2) women's wear is not appropriate to the forum.

What is this fascination with hyper-casual and grunge? I just don't get it. There are so many wonderful styles out there. Why do we garbage-collect at the very bottom?
