Balmoral has been one of the Scottish residences of the royal family since Victoria and Albert bought the estate.
The castle itself owes much more of it's design to German, rather than Scottish architecture, Albert's influence, he has the dubious credit for the design.
Fair enough, it reminded him of home which is a damn sight more valid than the tartan fiasco.

PS After Albert's death, Victoria is reputed to have found solace with one John Brown.
He was an employee on the estate and certainly had the appearance of the "typical" Scotsman.
One thing, he never spoke Gaelic.

I wore a Red & Green kilt with Red & Green Tights (Red Leg & Green Leg) to a holiday party last December.

Now that must have looked great! I assume the tights were from the Snag range? My wife bought me a black & red pair which I’ve worn with a black pencil skirt.

Yes I do. I have 3 different patterned pink kilts. I wear pink hoodie or pink shirts and pink tight with my kilts. I had blood work done at my doctor's office this year. The woman that took the blood loved the outfit. We had a good conversation about the pink clothes. The conversation lasted about 15 minutes and ended when she told me pink was were her favorite color.

Since my #4 post in this thread back in 13 August 2022 my leggings/tights wardrobe has increased even more colorful than ever.

If I have to wear tights under my kilt they'd just be black, maybe navy blue, men's compression tights, only when it's chilly.

Much prefer the feeling of bare thighs rubbing against each other.

Most of the time I wear black leggings under my kilt. Sometimes opaque black tights. I know with being Scottish I shouldn’t be wearing leggings or tights with a kilt but it can be a bit cold up here in Scotland (most of the time that is) and leggings add a bit of warmth and feel good with a kilt.

We've been having a few rounds of (relatively) cold weather lately...quite a few mornings it's been close to freezing. I've discovered the wonders of fleece-lined compression tights and how a kilt is a perfect blanket-like cover over the tights for modesty and extra warmth. I picked up a few women's SportKilts on sale for just this purpose, as they are 18" in length which is perfect as a cover up. I don't have any tights in pink though...just blue/grey/black. I need to find some in colors that don't clash with the tartans I wear.

As an update to my previous post on this thread I now wear 15 denier nude tights under my kilt which gives the bare leg look which IMO looks best with a kilt but gives the warmth in cold winter days. I wear long black long socks that I made from cutting the legs of an old pair of black opaque tights and roll them down my calf.
