kilt with knee high boots?

Post by timemeddler »

As a general rule of thumb I don't wear skirts/kilts and heels together but I was feeling experimental the other day. The height of my cosplay boots is about right where my hose ends. It got me wondering about the merits of such an outfit. Is it too outlandish? Would it work with flat boots? If I wore this out somewhere would it give a bad impression? Maybe at certain clubs/bars?

Er, I wear skirt/kilts with all manner of boots, some with heels some not. I go every where in this combination, bars, work, shopping, etc. If you look at my 'Mouse at work & play' http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtopic.php?t=24615 you will see me in many location with boots & skirt/kilts.

Knee-high boots work great with kilts. I wear them in the winter. My boots have a low heel. Finding knee-highs for guys is a problem. The best I could do is go with a woman's size 11. I wear a man's size 9 or 9.5 (US). Add two to convert to women's sizes. Size 11 is about as large as you can find.

I have found some very expensive men's knee-high. Work boots like "linemen's" boots come to mind. They are heavy and expensive.

I've worn boots with a kilt a fair amount, though I don't have any boots with heels. They are mostly black: ex-military riding-type boots, or mock-suede knee-highs (from tesco's womenswear), or knee-high DMs.

I don't like boots with (high) heels or over-the-knee boots, but military surplus riding boots (given they have a nice chunky one inch or so block heel) and the women's boots that are fashioned after that do seem very sleek (and quite masculine) and seem like they'd go very well with a kilt. Provided that such boots hit just below the knee.

The tall boots I have which are not made for "women" are these Dubarry from Ireland. www.dubarry.com/men/footwear/country-bo ... stFilters=. They are water proof and are bit like leather wellington boots, No zip. They are not cheap, but they are well made and real leather throughout. I am wearing mine in Chelsea here http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtop ... 85#p257485

All of my other tall boots were bought from the other side of the shop, which is no problem to me, but may be for some.

I am a fan of boots below a skirt or kilt and through the colder months it is my standard look. I use low heel boots for work and a whole range of heels for play.

In general, I don't like heels, especially not on men. Nevertheless, I think these boots are looking good on you. Perhaps, because of them having sort of block heel, but also your figure, tall and slim, might play a role.
