My oh my, Fred got some of my faves in his list. I'd add, in no particular order, Sorcerer an amazing adaptation of a novel with a brilliant soundtrack, Blade Runner again a magnificent adaptation and a mind-blowing soundtrack, The Treasure of the Sierra Madre which is a classic "descent into madness"(see Sorcerer), Pink Floyd's The Wall which is truly disturbing to sensitive psyches, Dr. Strangelove, and Mel Brooks' hilarious Young Frankenstein. Honorary kudos go to The Blues Brothers, Back to the Future III, and Tron.

Casablanca stands alone.

I 'hate' all these "favorite" questions -- much too limiting. One relatively unknown movie I found that had a lot of subtle and indirect messages of merit was mostly panned by the "experts": The Gods Must be Crazy. It's sequel was OK, but not so full of social commentary.

I can't really comment on favourite movies as I don't go to the cinema. However, it is worth analysing the term 'expert'.

Bill Pullman's inspirational speech before the attack on the aliens , Russell Casse as he knows he's going to die .. "Payback's a ***** .ain't it ? and "Hello boys ...I'm back " Will Smith... "NO , you aint spreading that green s..t on me " .. So good .. Too bad the second one many years later basically sucked .. Last night on TV was "Hard Day'sNight " The Beatles.. But the second was, nevertheless, enjoyable. With movie franchises there may be a big drop in quality between the first and the second.
