Silly Season

Post by STEVIE »

Had to happen, it's hot and shorts are verboten at school!
What is a boy to do?
Pinch his sister's skirt, who would have ever thought of that, I wonder?
Sorry guys, it's the Daily Wail and not the dawn of a new era for men in skirts or even good PR for the cause.

Interesting that none of the boys (at least 6 of them) never got teased for wearing skirts and the teachers thought it was a good idea. Summer in UK always brings the inevitable skirt stories out

It seems to be a uniquely UK tradition - I can't think of any other countries where these stories happen. Perhaps employee protests have happened world-over.

But what will they wear when the temperatures reach 32C or even 35C????

Ok they are in the 75 degree F range now but temperatures could reach as high as 95 degrees before schools out.

Here in the States we get temperatures as high as 100 degrees F in the summer. It is just a fact of life here.

Very true Coder and silly should really read damn stupid and certain newspapers just encourage it too.
Ersatz controversy with a bit of ooh la la thrown in. some Brits lap that up and I really cannot explain it.

It's an annual occurrence, hardly newsworthy.

I don't understand why schools don't allow shorts. No doubt half of the girls would wear the shortest and tightest shorts they could find, and the schools want to avoid that. But the same girls turn up in teeny tiny skirts which barely cover their backsides already, so what's the difference? At least in shorts they couldn't flash their underwear to the boys.

The boy in the first picture has got it sussed!
Keep on skirting,

Boys choosing to wear skirts in hot weather should not be news. There is a problem here in that the UK is not built for hot weather and we are going to get more of it. Few offices and even fewer shops are air-conditioned and I have never heard of a school with A/C though I suppose they exist. I don't see how you can learn effectively if you are in acute discomfort due to heat - bring on the skirts and dresses.

I look at these articles, and have to wonder why not shorts :?: Why are shorts unthinkable?

Grok, you could have stopped at "why".
These articles are meaningless drivel, they add nothing at all to anything.
School Admin says no shorts and expects to be obeyed.
Don't think just do!
