Halloween
Re: Halloween
No, not planning on anything. On Halloween night we are going to sort out some treats, put on an Adam and Eve costume relocate to our bedroom to watch tele and, with the house in virtual darkness, we shouldn't get any trick or treaters. Stupid convention/festival anyway, never been a fan of it.
I believe in offering every assistance short of actual help but then mainly just want to be left to be myself in all my difference and uniqueness.

Be careful dunking for apples then, you might bite the snake by mistake!Sinned wrote: ↑Sat Oct 09, 2021 9:03 pm No, not planning on anything. Halloween is an ancient festival to mark the crossing to winter and is Celtic in origin; it is in no way stupid. Trick or treat is a commercialised US version more about making money out of people than anything else and I agree is stupid.

Re: Halloween
I've been invited to a local Halloween party hosted by a retired orthopaedic surgeon and his wife this year. They expect me to show and have made no bones about it.
I'm converging on a "costume" which will likely closely resemble my Christmas outfit from several years ago in my past life, but merely darker. I haven't fully converged on that quite yet, but still have another couple of weeks...

Re: Halloween
Halloween is pretty much a non-event here.
You occasionally see a couple of kids out with mum or dad trick or treating but they're all done between about 3.30 and 5.30pm.
I've only occasionally seen them when I've been on my way back from the office.
I have never seen any need to dress up in any costume, as the whole things here is a non-event.

Nothing planned for this year, but here's an outfit I wore a few years ago to the charity shop where I was volunteering:
Actually, just found another from a different year where I was playing pool on Halloween:

I like the first one SD, makes me smile. In the second it shows how trim you were - almost a 6-pack! A 4-pack, maybe.

Re: Halloween
I prefer to buy my 'Draught Guinness' in 8-packs. Reasonable value. I too like the top one, SD, the bottom one is a tad too revealing. Would look better on an Oriental belly dancer.
We have a resident 9 yr old granddaughter who won't let us forget about Halloween. She absolutely loves dressing up. I couldn't give a toss myself and out here in the country we are blissfully removed from all that T&T-ery.

Funny, it is the same here. The closest thing I know about dressing up was the guy who hit a roo in his car; stopped and propped the roo up against the embankment, put his jacket on it for a photo but the roo regained consciousness and took off ......... with his wallet in the pocket.6ft3Aussie wrote: ↑Sun Oct 10, 2021 3:59 am Halloween is pretty much a non-event here.

Only roo I've hit he wasn't going to run away with what I think was a badly broken pelvis, he was trying to kick and couldn't run off, he certainly wasn't happy and making sure we knew. Was a rental car too, up near Moranbah in the QLD coalfields.

I enjoy watching children enjoy the holidays more and more as the years pass on.
