Defining Skirt Styles
Re: Defining Skirt Styles
I like their straight forward designations for various lengths. Having come to skirts rather late in life, these help me remember the different categories.

Re: Defining Skirt Styles
Their measurements don't correspond to my body. A 13" skirt hangs to about 2" above the knee. A 23" "knee-length" skirt comes past mid-calf.
The picture is helpful, and I guess I could use these numbers if a description just says "knee-length" to know it would be a midi for me.

Re: Defining Skirt Styles
The measurement at near the knee is all dependent on where the WAIST is located - - -
A 13 inch hemmed skirt touching the knee - would make an interesting waist (below the hips) placement
AND on the other hand if worn at the navel there would not be much coverage on the thigh.
Worn at a casual waist should just about do it breaking at mid thigh.

"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Re: Defining Skirt Styles
I was actually referring to the generic descriptions: micro, knee length, lower calf, etc.

Another chart.
Re: Defining Skirt Styles
Good chart Grok; useful pics, descriptions and even a few borrowable ideas!
Re: Defining Skirt Styles
I have noticed that online there are DIY instructions for different types of skirts.
Re: Defining Skirt Styles
As I noted recently, Skirtcafe is useful and educational as well as
interesting and fun. Grok's links are especially good.
These are examples of beautiful fashions, beautiful models, and
beautiful photography, all working together.
What I would find even more interesting is (1) candid, on-the-street
photos with explanatory captions, in place of posed models;
(2) males wearing the equivalent array of skirts and dresses, along
with quality photos and knowledgeable captions.
