Re: (Good) Comments are king.
I was out yesterday and went to the drug store to but my grandson a birthday card and received a nice comment but not for the skirt i was wearing. I have worn an ankle bracelet for over 10 years now and have never even had a peep about it. That is until yesterday when a woman who was following my out of the store said "I like your ankle bracelet" kinda took me by surprise. I said thank you and she went on her way. Nothing at all about the fact that I was wearing a skirt. And it was not a denim skirt it was a light sky blue stretchy knit skirt that came down just below my knees.
Today on Turkey Day I am going out to dinner at one of the restaurants that serve a nice dinner with a friend. I ill be wearing a stone washed denim skirt with an autumn colored sport shirt.

Fred...I have recently noticed more males wearing crusifix neck pendants recently.
Perhaps more lassies are beginning to notice male bare skin and the male jewellery being worn.....
with the warmer weather we had last summer.
I note you mention Turkey Day......is this related to your thanks giving day ?

Turkey day is Thanksgiving. Some of us just refer to it as "Turkey Day" because that is the main course on hundreds of millions of family's dinner tables on Thanksgiving.

Re: (Good) Comments are king.
Tuesday a female friend of mine invited me to her Thanksgiving celebration. She said there would be a woman friend of hers, who's a chef, and a friend of the friend.
My friend forsook skirts years ago, so I figured I'd better take it down a notch from my usual level so I wore my full, full-length multi-(Fall)color skirt, my burgundy blouse, green Pendleton blazer, knee boots and appropriate jewelry. My hostess's friend complimented me on my outfit for which I thanked her.
We ate off of beautiful Mikasa plates in a beautifully restored Craftsman bungalow. The turkey and the rest of the food was incredible. The 4 of us had a great time!
And I was the only one in a skirt!

Sounds like a fun day . I have had a few times when I was in the company of a couple of women where I was the only one in a skirt. How about a photo sounds like a great outfit.

All the Christmas Decorations are on show in the local supermarket café so yesterday I had my third
Xmas full blown turkey Xmas lunch of the season.....not much different to Sunday lunch.
Following that I visited a local craft fair in my new T U check straight skirt and male sports jacket
with my black flat soled zip boots.
had two mince pies for two happy months and a mug of fishermans tea. ... Tea with no fish...LO.L.
No other skirts in sight

I usually wear skirts but for a particular reason I will change into trousers
I do not know why I bother to wear to wear trousers as I am
usually dressed differently to the female when I wear a skirt.

Re: (Good) Comments are king.
Over the last few months I have noticed a change. I have always had good comments from women about my skirts and kilts but now I am getting positive comments from men also and in places that I must admit surprised me a bit, such as the auto parts store, home improvement center, hardware store, Walmart and the super market. Just the other day the counter guy and a customer at the auto parts store were all over the Utilikilt I was wearing and both thought they might get one. Just last night a guy behind me in line at the market said. "That is the best looking kilt I have seen all day" I chuckled and said. "I'll bet it is the only one you have seen today" He replied that his memory was bad and he could not remember. we both chuckled about that. Then he asked a couple of questions about it. I could see his mind working as we talked. It is interesting that I have had at least ten or more very positive comments from men in last few months and the good comments from women have not slowed up any either.

I just got my first comment from anyone the other day. I’ve had numerous looks, and a few (very few) frowns, but up til now no one has asked me directly about my skirt, and it was a man. We took another trip to Santa Fe NM again over the weekend. After checking in to the hotel we drove up to a casino. I wore a cargo skirt. After watching my wife play slots for awhile, I settled in at the bar. A guy sat down next stool over and very casually asked if that was an utility skirt. A few minutes later his girlfriend joined him. Introductions and she said I like the skirt! Also the girlfriends girlfriend made a comment about it! Conversation moved on and they invited wife and me to join them at a club called Boxcar. Lots of people there no issues wearing the skirt! Like others have said, its a bigger deal to us than to others so naturally others aren’t normally going to make comments about things they don’t find very interesting.

Indeed, it's much more about one's behaviour and candour than anything else, including the skirt. I've always found that if anybody's going to say anything, they can either be immediately dismissed as idiots ("You're going to go to Hell for wearing that.") or are genuinely curious and/or appreciative.mskirt wrote:[...] Conversation moved on and they invited wife and me to join them at a club called Boxcar. I had such an experience last night at my local when i was in after work having a couple of cold ones and trying to release some of the day's stress when one of the semi-regulars came in, sat down next to me, we exchanged pleasantries, and a few minutes later his girlfriend joined him. In no time flat it became quite apparent that I was the subject of some talk between those two, and she was genuinely curious about my style, why I liked it, &c. and out loud said that she liked it (it was workday apparel; white dress shirt, red calf-length skit w/pockets, a double-breasted burgundy waistcoat and matching hair bow). The last comment made as I was departing was, "I finally got to meet the sharp-dressing guy!" (He seems to have a bit of an interest in Victorian styles, and I wonder if she's going to prod him a bit...)

Re: (Good) Comments are king.
Was out and about the other day in a Utilikilt, and an older guy struck up a conversation. Some of the usual ("are you Scottish?", etc.), but also stories. He told me fondly about time spent in Scotland.
The thing worth mentioning here was his encouragement and compliments. He told me, "nice skirt," and, "good on you for wearing it," or something similar. The nice skirt comment struck me, as a lot of folks will call it a kilt, or uncomfortably avoid calling it a skirt, or call it a skirt as if that's a negative, but not this guy. I'm fine with either word, and thanked him. It was a genuine compliment, and I walked away with a smile.
