Today I was running an afternoon's worth of errands in my black, turtleneck sweater dress. It was covered by my wool pea jacket but nonetheless the first place I went I got a compliment on my scarf, at the second it was my patent leather pumps' turn, which lead to an extended conversation about my admirer's textured hose, and then I got a third compliment on my necklace.

For a change I noticed a few long looks that I took to be a variation on double takes, but nothing was said and there wasn't anything hostile in those looks.

A toddler pointed out to her mom that there was "a man in girl's shoes over there." Her mom just said, "He can do that."

I have not heard a single disparaging comment over the last year and a half when I have been in a skirt or dress and that's been the bulk of my personal time.

Got a comment and an answer this morning again it was from an old lady. I was in my bank cashing a check this morning . As I was leaving I stopped at a desk to put my receipts away. While I was there I heard the lady in line behind me saying to the teller in a loud voice "Did you see that man he was wearing a skirt". then I heard my teller say "so whats the problem he's in all the time in skirts.

This was like an old Clint Eastwood movie. The tellers comment was GOOD her tone and comment was BAD . and in my opinion she was UGLY

They are out there, thankfully in very small numbers, with an attitude that is easy to dispell; nothing enlightening like "Did you see that man with his kilt on backwards?"

Just got a major compliment. My favorite auditor was just in . I dressed up for her visit wearing my new blue skirt suit. WE have gotten friendly and as we were talking while she was packing up. I asked her what did she think of my outfit. She said If I looked that nice in a skirt I would wear them more often.

Now that is a great compliment. I hope you responded with something nice about her outfit and that you thought she would also look good in a skirt. :D

It just doesn't get any better than that.

"That is such a colourful outfit! Where are you coming from?", came an ebullient comment from a woman who was leaving the place I was entering for (a rather late) lunch."
"Home."
"You look wonderful!"
"Thank you. I just dress this way. I like it."
"That's great! I love it!"

So much for not being noticed, although I did pull some stops out for this one -- purple dress shirt, purple legwear, my red brocade waistcoat, and my summer-weight skirt with batik patterning on it. A blue bow in my hair finished the thing off.

Now if only I can queue up enough courage to actually try to parley nice stuff like that into more I'll feel a little bit better.

It's no surprise you get a good many compliments on your rigs Carl, you are indeed a master of your craft!

It's been a good while since I've received a compliment, in fact I remember the last one I registered, it was at a Captain D's in Bristol around the holidays.

I'm overdue.

There's definitely something about my lightweight white/purple/teal batik skirt that catches women's eyes.

Without even thinking much on it, I donned a white dress shirt, my purple velvet double-breasted waistcoat, and the white/purple/teal skirt and then found myself in the parking-lot at work getting hailed by a woman dog-walker who really liked the look. "I love the colours! You're beautiful!" All I could do was say, "Thank you." What more is there to say? And I was only going to work...

Just got back from my car dealer needed an oil change. I ran into my sales lady. I got a nice comment from her from her We sat and chatted for a while. This is the only lady that I have ever had a discussion about wearing skirts with . She had he normal skirt on. It was a little chilly and since I was wearing socks she asked if I was cold. I told her I would wear tights if it got any colder . she said she would like to see my outfit .

I said ok but that I have to warn you that if I wear tights the skirt gets shorter. She laughed.

After we talked I went into the waiting area until my car was ready. I was in the area with 5 ladies I was the only one in a skirt. Nothing was said but I got a lot of looks.

The satin palazzos came from a place called Formal Fashions, Inc. who specialise in stage-wear for musicians and choral performers. That said, these styles can transition into daytime-wear as well so long as they fit your character and overall sense of style.

When I procured mine, I had some questions simply because of my height, general size, and the fact that I was "buying from across the aisle". Nobody seems to have batted an eyelash, and the deal was sealed in short order in an entirely friendly and professional manner. Note that the items sourced from there need to be hemmed to length one you receive them. I'd originally anticipated having my late ex- assist with setting the hem and then me executing the hem on the sewing-machine. Before that happened, however, the relationship disintegrated and I wound up a widower and on my own again so I had them professionally set and hemmed by someone who came highly recommended from a friend. There was no way I could set the hem properly on either the palazzos or the long skirt I bought in the same order -- and there was precisely no way I was going to undertake ten-plus linear feet of hem on the skirt and likely 2x5+ feet on the legs of the palazzos.

I find comments are rear. I have been using this one oriental lady for almost all of my tailoring. Very nice always friendly. I even had her pin up some of my skirts while I was in her shop . I finally got a comment out of her. I was bringing a jacket from one of my skirt suits to have the sleeves altered . In her somewhat broken English she said " you wear mini skirt high heels you look nice"
