Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I spotted a man in Glasgow Central Station today who was wearing patterned tights or legging and a fairly light, floaty green skirt or dress. (He had a jacket on so I couldn't see his top half.) He was getting on a train on a different platform from the one I was on, so no chance to go and speak to him. (There's a chance he was actually a rather masculine woman, I suppose: I didn't get a very long or close look.)
Keep on skirting,
Alastair

Yep, that's the situation when you don't want to approach and say "heya buddy...nice to see another dude in a skirt" then discover you're speaking to a butch woman. It's a little like asking a woman "When is your due date?" to learn she isn't pregnant...skirtyscot wrote:I spotted a man in Glasgow Central Station today who was wearing patterned tights or legging and a fairly light, floaty green skirt or dress. Indeed. Never ask a woman if she is pregnant until you can see the baby's head!

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I was in Kelowna BC yesterday and saw a fellow wearing a mini skirt. It was quite short and he was wearing a thong judging by a view he displayed. Non the less it was a skirt sighting.

I'm not sure it's a good idea to ask, but....."the...view, he displayed....?"Liino wrote:I was in Kelowna BC yesterday and saw a fellow wearing a mini skirt. It was quite short and he was wearing a thong judging by a view he displayed. Non the less it was a skirt sighting.
Do you mean it was short enough to see his cheeks?
Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Hey Partly Scot,
He placed his thong higher than where the skirt sat, you know the view, skirt sat just at the convergence zone of cheeks disappearing thong, with thong above by 5cm.
Good for him wearing it but even on women that would not be a common sight.

Ah, not quite so outrageous, and at least legal, though he has a greater tolerance for attention than I have.Liino wrote:Hey Partly Scot,

The thong-top look is fine on a pear-shaped woman, not so good on a pear-shaped man...

But it's still so '90s. 'Twas tacky then and I think it remains tacky now. Save it for the boudoir.dillon wrote:The thong-top look is fine on a pear-shaped woman, not so good on a pear-shaped man...

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
I meant to post this earlier, but forgot about it. I was at church where two other adults and I are helping interested kids learn chess. At the same time they were having a funeral in the sanctuary. I saw a man there in a kilt, I suspect he was a musician there to play bagpipes for the funeral...possibly a paid musician. I just said hi to him, didn't talk as I think we were both busy at the time...

Banned in Boston!!! To each his own. I rather enjoy teasing displays, which are not uncommon in our sunny Southern beach towns.crfriend wrote:But it's still so '90s. Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Many, many, things have been -- some of which have actually been pretty good ideas. But, it's a decent tag-line.dillon wrote:Banned in Boston!!!
It mainly depends on the quality-level of the tease, and after one horrid summer of same, I came to the conclusion that the S/N ratio was so abysmally low that it didn't even warrant consideration, nevermind what a then-sitting US President may have thought. To each his own. I have standards, dammit. The nice thing about "standards", though, is that there are so many to choose from.

I'm not a big fan of "banning" things, either; that just accentuates their perceived desirability. (Which, of course, works to cross-purposes.)

Re: Sightings "in the wild"
Quite understood. I just figured I'd rise (or is that sink?) to the occasion with a playful shot at the Big City to my East. I have to admit, "Banned in Boston" does have nice ring to it -- moreso than, say, "wailed about in Worcester" or "laughed at in Leominster".dillon wrote:I was just razzing you, Carl. Ah, Worcester, aka "Wormtown" -- a place where serious submissions for a City Motto included "ashamed of itself and proud" and "the city that eats its young".

Been there...Worcester, err "Wooster". I worked a couple summers in Reading remodeling a house way, way back.
