Skirt search

Post by Cinik »

Hi everyone!

I'm new to these forums and thus apologize in advance for any miss-posts or other mistakes I make.
I've recently taken interest in using skirts but feel insecure about how men look wearing them and therefore I'm somewhat reluctant to starting. I would like to find something I really like and could, hopefully, wear without any feelings of hesitations. And so started my search. Quickly though I realised that these wares were quite difficult to find or get hold of. That's why I'd like to ask you guys on these forums for a bit of help - with a skirt search. (If successful maybe it can turn into a sticky, for people with the same problem?)

So.. I'm searching for the two pieces of clothing attached to the post.
Does anyone know where you could get hold of them, or something similar? Are you also searching for a particular hard-to-find skirt? Post a picture and maybe someone can help you out.

The difficulty with finding a skirt you're comfortable with is usually more about your comfort level wearing any skirt, and much less about any specific skirt.

Once you get yourself at peace, anything that suits your usual sense of fashion will do.

No matter what, you're going to get some surprised looks and less often a disapproving look. Revel in it. You're doing your own thing and only you can deprive yourself of that.
Courage, conviction, nerve, verve, dash, panache, guts, nuts, balls, gall, élan, stones, whatever. Get some and get skirted.

Hi there,

Not sure if this is up your turf but I recently bought my sarong from this site: http://www.1worldsarongs.com/menssarongs.html and I found that they've got some abstract and colorful styled sarongs skirts that looked pretty cool, are these somewhat similar to what you're looking for ? Oh well, hope that this helps!

Hi Cinik. Welcome. The first looks like a piece of material wrapped around to look like a surong, probably get some material at your local fabric store and make it yourself. The second pic is a great skirt/kilt looks fabulous, think that maybe a one off.

Hi Cinik, And a warm welcome to the forum! :D Hope to hear more from you in your quest for skirt-wearing either just at home or in the big wide world!

The style of the first skirt is almost certainly a sarong as noted above. Many patterns and designs are available. Not sure how easy it will be to find that specific one but good luck with that.

As for the second, I have seen this on a catwalk fashion show a couple of years back. The fashion designer was Riccardo Tisci for Givenchy. See this link:-

It does look great though!

This Austrian company has some pretty great looking sarongs:

Their sarong product photos are all with women, although described as unisex (as sarongs are naturally, of course). Interestingly, their mission statement is about making unisex clothing, and skirt-type garments for men in particular.
