Have they come back into fashion since then?
Keep on skirting,

Yes, dresses and skirts have come into fashion again for women on a limited basis. When I started wearing denim skirts virtually no one wore skirts or dresses on an everyday basis in the Dallas, Texas area.

I found the article 'Whatever Suits You' to be equally interesting and found the author's comeback to a group of teenage girls very amusing. These articles remind me of my female neighbour whom I've spoken to about my skirt wearing. She didn't bat an eyelid when I canvassed her thoughts of me in a skirt and she told me that she is the opposite in that she hates wearing a skirt or dress; she always wears trousers and has done since she left school. She didn't give any specific reason for this other than she prefers trousers. She is a slim and pretty woman that appears confident and well educated and is happily married. Her favoured mode of dress is a jumper and a pair of jeans. I have never seen her in anything remotely feminine.
