OK, so last night (New Year's Eve), I show up at Nicola's an Italian restaurant for dinner in trousers. We were meeting our friends, many of which I have influenced over the past 5 years with my skirty ways... Well, it seems I was the only guy out of 5 that dressed in trousers... All of the rest were wearing knee length kilts... I didn't get the memo!
I wore the trousers to give my wife a break, I have been mostly skirted of late... Figured New Year's Eve was special....
Funny, but I felt out of place and somewhat humiliated for wearing trousers...
Crazy huh?

Well done, John, for being a leader and influencer! Four new kilt-wearers is four more than I have managed.
I did a similar thing on Hogmanay. We went to a party, and I decided to wear trousers, even after Hazel said she thought I would be wearing a kilt. I reckoned it would make a change, and as I would be standing up most of the time there would be less advantage than usual in wearing a skirt. It kept the children happy as well. Earlier in the day Son Two and I had both gone for a haircut. I wanted us to walk - it's only a mile to the barber's - but Son Two was feeling less energetic. He said that if we drove he would not object to me wearing a skirt. This was a big surprise, as he is usually the most vocal hater of my skirts in the family. So I took him up on it. Later I felt it would be good to relent and put the trousers on for the party.

I think we are our own worst enemy when it comes to wondering "if I should don a skirt/kilt" or not... To wear or not to wear... As it has been said many times, it's all in our heads, most people don't give a crap... Even my own dear wife usually doesn't care, just once in a while when she is having a bad day...

Exactly, John. I find the same, with the exception of my family. My wife objects, except once n a while when ... well, I don't know why she sometimes relents, though it is always when we are unlikely to meet anyone we know.
