So then, why do so many men still expect the male viewpoint to batter down the female view?

Maybe the connectome also impacts on learning and many men have never realised that if you always do the same thing you will always get the same result?

Or maybe it's because men believe themselves to be right and do not have sufficient empathy (a female characteristic) to see things from a different point of view and adjust their approach as required.

Thanks for sharing that; I heard a snippet of an article about this on the radio as I was driving to work this morning, unfortunately there was too much going on on the roads to listen properly.

That is certainly true and understandable. One of the marks of intelligence though is being able to adjust ones' thinking to fit new information. I can't tell you how many times in the last several score years that I have had to abandon a pet belief or theory in the face of new information. Sometimes people say, "that isn't what you said before" when I express a viewpoint, and I tell them, "that's right, I had to discard that view because...." And then there is the old adage (that is an adage for a reason) that insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result.

That is certainly a hazard of the internet, but by "nasty / dogmatic" do you mean people who hold views contrary to yours?
