'Least effort made with a costume' prize

Post by Charlie »

Mrs C and I went to a halloween themed murder mystery last night (fancy dress) at our local theatre, of which we are both members. I had the dubious privilege of winning the 'Least effort made with a costume' prize; probably because I spent much more time of Mrs C's costume :D
I wore black shoes and tights, my usual black kilt and a red jumper, and additionally a wig with pigtails and ribbons so I vaguely resembled Wednesday Addams (but much, much uglier!).
I reflected afterwards that perhaps if the judges weren't so used to seeing me in a 'skirt', someone else might have got the booby prize :?

The prize for this must go in one Christmas party we attended some many years ago. A couple came in as Adam and Eve with two largish paper fig leaves for the man and 4 similar for the woman in strategic positions needless to say. They didn't wear the costumes for very long but got a huge cheer when they did. I reckon they took about a half hour to make - card coloured green and bits of string. They did say later that they were thinking of using balloons instead of the fig leaves but they exposed a bit toooooo much.

To sort of get back to the original theme for this year's New Year's Eve party we are going to have a theme again. It has been suggested as cartoon characters or characters out of children's books but that is subject to change. I intend going as Ali Baba in a long Egyptian dress and khaftan. How would you go attired and as what character?

I'd go for Obelix as he is dressed in the latest story. I have not quite the right shape to go topless, but in winter I could put plenty of padding under a flesh-coloured sweater.

Sinned, that's like a question from Blind Date - "I'd go as Harry Potter, 'cause when I fly in with my wand at the ready, you're in for a magical time!"

Ba-doom tish. :?

What a programme it was!
Keep on skirting,

We 'traditionally' throw a musical party in the post-Christmas period which is themed...e.g. Shakespreare, Thomas Hardy, Jane Austen, Cards, Tudor &c. Last year it was 'Opera'. This year it's Disneyworld, with participants coming dressed as Disney characters.

I'm afraid I must comply to my Spouse's wishes and we're going to be 'Lady and the Tramp'. Quite how doggy I can make myself I really don't know. Anyway she wants us to sing the song 'Bella Notte', which is the Italian restauranteur's song while they dined outside his back door. Lady & the Tramp didn't sing at all, but famously sucked on the same strand of spaghetti!

Dang, I wish there wasn't an ocean in the way!

Pull a surprise and channel Charlie Chaplin with whiskers. Note that it is rather difficult to sing with pasta in one's mouth -- at least presentably and in public.

Or you could decide to be "Lady" and wear a ball gown and a confused expression when she mentions dogs... :D

Have fun (that is the idea after all),
