Sarongs and tights

I love to wear sarongs or lungis which are usually made of 100% cotton.

Of course, at winter time, I need some additional protection for my legs ... South-Asian skirts are not supposed to be worn in cold Central Europe.

My problem with tights is that the skirt would kind of "stick" to the tights and make it difficult to walk - no matter what kind of tights I use. Same applies to knee-socks, btw.

Did you experience the same with cotton skirts? Any solutions?

A half slip does the trick with tights. Should work equally well with socks.

I have some sarongs that I made of thicker cotton/fleece, and they do great in cold Alaskan winters. In fact, they seem to do quite a bit better than wearing pants. I have never needed to wear tights with them. The thicker ones do have that problem of "sticking", however, I have found that if you tie them higher than you normally would, the problem goes away. My cotton ones I tie closer to my ankles, maybe a little bit above, my fleece sarong I tie more around my shins. Mine are Indonesian (tube) style, though, so it may be different if you're using the wraparound style.

By the way, how goes the skirting in Central Europe? I'm thinking of traveling to Hungary/Poland, do you think it would be acceptable to bring skirts with me? I'm just not prepared for the summer heat in Hungary, and I hate wearing shorts.
