Sewing Thread Suggestion

Post by Donald »

For those that need to use a thread that is nearly invisible but does not have to be fabric colored, I have a unique recommendation. Use monofiliment fishing line of about 4lb test to 8lb test depending on the level of strength you need. The nylon or whatever material used is far stronger than the fabric threads you get at the sewing supply shop. This is especially useful for high stress areas.

Hehehe, I hope that I do not come off as making an advertisement or sales pitch. But for my pants, which I must wear to work due to the job I do, nylon fishing line has been a godsend. The stitching in the crotch ripped out on a pair of khakis that I wore. Cloth threads never seemed to last worth a darn. But the nylon fishing line has held up beautifully. And the crotch seam is definitely a high stress area. So it may be useful for anybody here needing a very high strength stitch in cases where a clear thread will not be an issue.
