The biggest problem encountered with getting proper tights, is the sizing, as such is not the same with each brand. So ik yu have a XL of brand A, you might need een xxxl for the same result of another brand. E.g. The XL of Kunert is like a L of Wolford.
With leggings, footless tights, such is less of a problem as you can compensate with socks.

Dottie, thanks so much for the Big Bloomers recommendation. No worries that they won't carry my size -- in most of their styles I take the smallest they offer!

I've just received a pair of these from China:

They are very comfortable to wear, are very stretchy and fit me well (my height is 185cm) despite being one-size only. Wearing them, I get a strange but pleasant sensation of floating as I walk about. Must be the novelty of it.
