Greetings from Boston, Massachusetts

Post by SteveB »

Hello all,
Signed up a while ago but have been "lurking" for as long time. Grew up wearing a skirt or kilt all of my life, and never had much interest in trousers. I have been known as the Guy (bloke UK) in a skirt. Mostly appreciated by the lasses. I do now own trousers for they are required by my employer. (Alleged safety concern). I have found that as I am confident in my style, no one bothers at all. I do live in a very diverse city, so all ethniticities of clothing are seen here. I really do not stick out other than being just shy of two meters, and carrying 90 kilograms around.
Only recently, because of age and earlier hard damage to one knee, have I started wearing nylon hose to help the circulation in my legs. Again, no one cares. Very rarely do I encounter any conversation in my attire. What few times have been very positive from the teenage males that I share space with on the subway (Tube) or the green line trolley (Tram). I am a research librarian during the week (in trousers), and teach religious exploration in my church (skirted) on Sundays.

Cheers,
Steve

Hello and welcome, SteveB.

Skirted all your life - very impressive, very dedicated! How did that go down at school, back in the 50s and 60s?

I'm most intruiged by the suggestion that a research librarian cannot safely wear a skirt. How did your employer explain it?
Keep on skirting,

Alastair

Boston is a great town for wearing skirts. But I'm still not sure if I should go to a Red Sox game in a skirt... seems a tad intimidating. If you'd like to do that next year, let me know!
When I heard about skirting, I jumped in with both feet!
