Funny you mentioned being a civilian contractor. I have actually been considering doing that in Afghanistan here soon.
I receive an excellent stipend from the V.A. for going to school in Tacoma, but that stipend will be cut in half due to my schedule putting me in online classes starting October time frame. Besides the money, I prefer on-campus learning to online any day.
What job you been doing over there?

Also, you live about 5 min from my house... I've been known to hit Safeway at 224 and Meridian, Fred Meyers, and walmart skirted from time to time...

Nice. Just got back from that Safeway with the wife like 15 minutes ago.
I am currently a Transportation Specialist in the Air Force Reserves, that is what I would do in Afghanistan as a civilian.
Basically load and unload aircraft with forklifts and K-Loaders. It is what I did in Iraq and Kuwait already.
I was deployed to Qatar once, but I was an active-duty diesel mechanic then.
What are your thoughts on being over there for a year for a substantial amount of money?
My possible contract is $100K for a year with 45 days leave.
Of course you do not have to divulge anything personal.

Re: Greetings from Washington state
well right now I'm on a short-term contract, but I hope I can extend for a year... I would like to be ahead of the bills game, and not check to check. I'll probably also save some money to go to flight school and do what I REALLY wanna do...
