Check out http://www.telegraph.co.uk/men/fashion- ... Young.html it's interesting. Only problem, as someone pointed out, is it slipped by the editors that "Hibernian" does NOT mean "Scottish."

I see that the poll at the end of the article is 54:46 in favour of dresses for men. Pretty good score, I say.

Never was for dresses but SKIRTS and KILTS heck yes !
I don't know where along the line since our ancestors left the garden
who made the darn fool rule of dress code. Yea there are radical
temperature extremes on mother earth and it just makes sense to
put something on that protects from the elements but why all the
concern whether it be male or female or of neutral gender origin ?
Yes fashionably some clothing does look better on one sex better
than another but we are stereotyped that only dresses are worn
by women and pants well that no longer applies to men !
In so much as there are trades and professions that dress wearing
just is not terribly practical i.e. welders; concrete construction;
forest firemen; coal mine workers and oil workers to name a few
dresses are slated for more casual living where one does not get
dirty to make a living.
Egad it is only clothes what are we so afraid of ?

I rather doubt that it's just the clothes, but all the other BS that's become attached to them.

In the article, the "tea dress" looks fine on the guy. It works; I'd happily wear something like that. The heavy boots scream "compensating", but that's just my opinion; I'd go for normal shoes.

Yes I remember Will Young winning the first series of Pop Idol back in 2002. No suggestion then of frocks or skirts in his singing acts. (And he is from Berkshire and has no connection with Scotland or Hibernia - ie Ireland - though he did serve in the Army there for a time)

Good for him to express his preference to a younger audience and for the rest of us! :D

It seems to me that more and more "celebs" are breaking the mold and chossing skirts and/or dresses as casual day-wear! :D :D :D :thumright: :thumright: :thumright:

I think the boots are there to say "This is alt fashion, not crossdressing." If it helps enlighten people, I don't mind them.

Casual everyday wear? I doubt it myself; more likely, they are ready to do anything to get more attention.

But I do agree that seeing young celebs in skirts could help more young people to give skirt wearing a try. They are more likely to copy pop idols than to copy us old'uns !
