Tom,
You are quite right; as in Europe and North America, Angus and Hereford...and Angus-Hereford...dominate the market. It's the grass fed character of the meat, and the traditional cooking that makes asado special. We get close to it here, grilling at home over charcoal, but grain-fattened feedlot beef, though tender and succulent, lacks something in the flavor of the meat. Not that Argentinian cattle don't see grain at some time, but not to the extent that Europe and the US feed it.
As a matter of fact, the sun DOES shine out of my ...

I can see the inscription on the headstone now:

Strip-searched at the airport -- humiliating.
"Papers, please." Everywhere -- insulting.
Barotrauma because they don't properly pressurize aircraft anymore -- injurious.
Enjoying a good steak with friends in the midst of a flash-mob -- Priceless.

Best not, but if you chaps do decide to descend on the place en masse I shall be there in spirit!

There was a story on CNN. At an airport a man wearing a pink shirt was assaulted. The assailant was denouncing the other as a homosexual. I don't know the other details, yet.

Yes, I saw something about that a day or two back. There was a video of it. I think it was at Dallas Airport.
The assailant was ranting at the man in the pink shirt. He then kicked him and was promptly jumped on by several people who held him down until cops handcuffed him. Even then he was still ranting.
Looked for the report a few minutes ago but could not find it. I'm sure the video is up on youtube.

A drunken oaf who, I'd hope is now having cause to reflect on his actions.
In the seventies, we had a fashion for pink/grey striped ties and we thought ourselves so brave to dare that colour.
As for pink shirts, or anything more daring, you'd have struggled to see one in the raw.
Put simply, it would not have been terribly wise, the oafs won that round. The world has moved on now though.
Fortunately, this is an isolated incident and there's reason to be optimistic. The reactions of the bystander says all that's needed in that respect.
It would be nice to think that it wasn't just a stunt.
Just shows, be aware, take care!

I wore a cherry blossom pink shirt with my grey pin-strip suit on Thursday. The only comment I got was 'You haven't worn that shirt in awhile', which is true since I have a lot of shirts and it's turn hadn't come up recently.

I have lots of pink shirts. I wore a pink checked shirt with jeans (ugh) and waistcoat last night for a cowboy themed party. Which wierd parts of the world chastise men for wearing pink?

I hear also that parts of Australia consider the wearing of purple by men to be gay. Eh?

I pointed out before that I frequently see men wearing pink (and other shades of light red) t-shirts (in summer anyway). I have a few myself.
I also have a couple of pink formal shirts that I wear occasionally.

I found plenty of advertisements from the 1950's for pink shirts-
(I think I may have posted a couple of these links before)

Tony Curtis advertising a pink Van Heusen shirt-

So where or when does the taboo come from? Are there regional variations as to where these attitudes are prevalent?
