Catholic School Bans Skirts

Its official Girls wear pants, in this case khaki pants previously designated for boys.

I wonder does that mean the boys are free to wear the skirts that the girls for some reason never lined wearing.
Somehow I just don't think the boys are interested in tossed aside garment.

That's good news. Let's hope other schools follow suit.
Skirts for girls' school uniforms are not only an out-of-date rule, they are also an obstacle against the acceptance of skirts for men.
Here in Spain (and many other places), the uniforms are not only skirts, but tartan skirts, so not even a man's tartan kilt is regarded as suitable for a man to wear.

Pity schools wouldn't just let all pupils, both boys and girls, just wear what they want. Uniforms are about control, something the catholic church has always been preoccupied with. Schools should be for the spreading of knowledge, not for mind control.

True - BUT when the child can wear "what they want", this is an
invitation for any 'gang related' clothing to be worn. Gangs are a terrible thing
in public schools. Soon you'ld have the them against the those which
leads to more trouble and disruption in schools, taking away the 'learning' aspect
of what school is really about. The teacher can no longer teach but must
be a policeman in the classroom. (Same for Parochial Schools.)

In this case, I'm for school uniforms and allowing either skirt or pants to be worn
by any student, be it male or female. This would eliminate, or reduce, the 'gang'
aspect & influence in our schools.

Pretty well all schools on this Island of Saints & Scoundrels have a prescribed school uniform which invariably is grey jumper/grey slacks for boys and dull colour co-ordinated jumper & skirt for girls. Some skirts are plaid, others monochrome maroon, navy, dark green or brown &c.
Nobody crosses the line. That's for sure, but no schoolgirl wears trousers in the lower schools. 6th formers are allowed wear jeans &c on some days in some schools. Boys must stay the same, other than for sport. Speaking of sport, it's in my view regrettable that the traditional sports kilt has mostly been replaced by shorts for girls.
My MM was an international Ladies' Lacrosse player in her day and she is horrified at the move to shorts on the Lacrosse pitch. (She never watches hockey).

Good points. I'm not suggesting a complete free-for-all, I would agree with a ban on "hoodies" and branded clothing and branded trainers like Nike, Adidas etc. But I think the pupils, both boys and girls, should have a free choice of wearing either trousers, skirts, shorts or dresses.

I agree with uniforms in schools. It is the great equalizer. The problem with girls school uniforms skirts is usually related to the length they choose to wear. They want to look sexy but do not want to be looked at as sexy by other than the boys they are teasing.
