RIP Rutger Hauer

Post by beachlion »

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rutger_Hauer

It is a Dutch actor that became famous in the Netherlands through television. He was a hero of the generation after me. Later he appeared in Dutch and American films.

He was a few months older than me. For some reason it is hitting me harder when somebody dies from your own generation. Also being well known from the small and big screen makes a difference.

From the Guardian.
"Rutger Hauer, star of Blade Runner, dies aged 75"

A very sad loss.

The final scene from Blade Runner, the "Tears In Rain" monologue. Fantastic! :)

He started his career with Dutch movies and TV. I remember him from those actions. After some Dutch movies, some X-rated or worse, he became known in other countries and even made it in the USA. I hate movie theaters, mainly because of the volume of the sound, so I did not see much of his movies he made after he left the Dutch movie world.
