Trivia

Post by moonshadow »

Okay, lets have a little test

NO CHEATING!!! STAY OFF GOOGLE!

Here are the rules:
This is a hard question to ask online because the answer is readily available online, so this will be done on a HONOR SYSTEM. So we all must adhere to the rules of the test.

1) No googling the answer until you have posted yours
2) DO NOT EXPLAIN how you got your answer
3) Just write the answer THAT'S IT and hit submit.

Once you post your answer DO NOT EDIT IT, you are free to then go to google if you're so inclined to see if you were correct, however DO NOT POST your formula (work), or any explanation on this board until it's had a chance to run it's course.

Once we've received a fair number of replies, or the time is up, then we can talk about the answer and explain how we came to it.

Once receive 10 replies OR the time expires MIDNIGHT Tuesday morning (12AM EST) then we can talk about the answer and explain how we worked it out.

Here's the problem:

A hammer and a nail cost $1.10 together. The hammer cost $1.00 more than the nail, how much does the nail cost?

If the US Government purchases the hammer the sky is the limit remember the space shuttle toilet seat !
As for the nail it was thrown in complimentary. After all what are you going to nail in space - puncture a hole in the shuttle's skin ?

Sorry off topic !

NEXT question ?
"YES SKIRTING MATTERS"!
"Kilt-On" -or- as the case may be "Skirt-On" !
WHY ?
Isn't wearing a kilt enough?
Well a skirt will do in a pinch!
Make mine short and don't you dare think of pinching there !

Aye, This side of the Pond it's either Sterling or Euros and we've seen some big exchange rate changes in recent months. Trump & Brexit won't go away anytime very soon, so it'll be interesting to see where currencies go in the next few years.

That of course doesn't affect the cost of the hammer & the nail in US$

Something not quite right with this equation ?
Don't you use the hammer to "£" the nail - not to price check it !

I am leaving (fast) the door will not hit me !

Is that $1.10 including 7.5% sales tax?
That would make the Hammer $1.01 the nail $.01 and rounded up $.08 for sales tax.

(I from Wisconsin where we pay taxes everywhere!)

^Or, in the case of the Seattle area of Washington state, 9.2-9.5% sales tax... In which case, the nail might as well just be free. But, assuming we're talking about Oregon or another non-sales tax state, $.05 for the nail, $1.05 for the hammer.
