What do you do?
I'm not sure if this has ever been asked before, but it seems that we are as diverse a community as anywhere else. It would be interesting to know a little bit about our backgrounds.

Re: What do you do?
I'll kick things off:
started in banking at a very low level, then meandered through a fledgling I.T. environment, into accountancy, business recovery and debt. Dabbled in sales and also had little stabs at small engineering and small construction. So, all in all, a bit of a "jack of all trades".

Can we have an option (or options) for Arts, Music and Drama please? These areas are too important to be dismissed into 'Other'.

Quite correct; done. But that's all of the available "slots" filled.Stevie D wrote:Can we have an option (or options) for Arts, Music and Drama please? These areas are too important to be dismissed into 'Other'.

IT, MIS, DP, &c. In short, if it's got anything to do with computers or data communication I do it, bare iron through applications. A "computer geek".

For over 30 years I was a professional geologist in the UK mining industries, the British Geological Survey and a visiting lecturer in Earth Sciences at the University of Sheffield.
Now I am more or less retired from geology but I have taken up my 'alternative' career as a semi-pro musician, performing and teaching both classical and traditional music. I am also on the management team of a Sheffield-based orchestra.

Can we have a category for Transport- which without it, no one would have much of nothing. Especially UK.

I think that DC bumped up against the limit on the number of categories. If that's the case I'll look into upping that value a little bit.Gregg1100 wrote:Can we have a category for Transport- which without it, no one would have much of nothing. Especially UK.

I'm retired now but in my glory days, I was a mechanical engineer, mostly working in shipbuilding.

I am a retired in place Senior Nuclear Reactor Operator from the Savannah River Site. Before I went to work there I did railroad construction, worked in a dye plant for the Granitville Company, now defunct, Radio DJ and news broadcaster, sales in liquor and spirits. Rather a diverse run of jobs and it all started when I was 17 and went to serve my country in the Air Force.
