Jeopardy 2 April Category: LET’S SKIRT THE ISSUE
On Jeopardy on April 2, one of the categories was "Let's Skirt the Issue"
My wife challenged me as I was wearing a skirt at the time.
Here's the clues:
$200 Clue: Ballerina Marie Taglioni introduced the prototype of this skirt
A: What is the TuTu?
Daily Double Clue:British designer Mary Quant named this ’60s skirt after her favorite car
A: What is the mini skirt?
$600 Clue: A crinoline helped hold out this skirt that, despite its name, could be shaped like a bell, a cone or a pyramid
What is a hoop skirt?
$800 Clue: This full skirt popular in the '50s was named for the pooch that was appliqued on it
A: What is the Poodle skirt?
$1000 Clue: This old-timey skirt gets its name because of the extreme tapering at the ankle that makes it hard to walk in
A: What is the Hobble skirt?
I got them all except for the $1000 clue.

I got them all except the $200 dollar clue..
I was impressed with myself as I actually got more right than the contestants.

Nope, it's a Canadian term for a case of 24 cans of beer, eh?
And a funny thing is the origin of the name "tutu", it was some boy with a speech impediment who was sitting in the front row at the first performance where such a skirt was worn (previously they wore ball gowns), instead of the k sound it was a t sound, and being at the angle he was, well...he proclaimed that he could see her "cucu" (that was French kid slang for a butt), but with his speech impediment he said tutu....and the term stuck.

This site is so educational. Two more facts I didn’t know and can now bore my friends with. If I ever get to see them again that is.Nope, it's a Canadian term for a case of 24 cans of beer, eh?

It's April and I am reminded of that absolutely glorious orchestral piece by Frederick Delius....'On hearing the first cuckoo in Spring'. At these latitudes they arrive sometime between April 14th and 24th and of course their call is the Herald of Spring.
