I found the Belay II skirt by Merrell on Amazon

The black version was $20. Other colors are a lot more.

Perfect! It appears to be a light softshell material, which I have been looking for in a skirt.

Which size did you get, and how does that compare to your usual sizes and you pants waist size?

How well does the fabric block wind? I usually test that by holding the fabric up to my mouth and trying to blow through it.

There seems to be something weird going on with the Amazon pricing, the prices seem to change when I select the same thing as I first did.

Amazon is a great place for inexpensive skirts for men.
Just shop around a little and you can find all sorts of good stuff on there.

I usually get a size 16. My pants size is 36-38.

It seems that the price changes depending on the size and color.
I would like to get a lighter color. That one is $60. The black was $20.

The waist band stretches. It's a awesome skirt

Light weight but the fabric seems that it would block the wind.

Merrell clothing is usually pretty good stuff. I have a long gray Merrell skirt with drawstring ruching on each side from the hem upward. It's one of my favorites. I may try one of these short skirts, though my closet is already exploding.

Actually, I just realized that I have one and love it. It's probably my favorite outdoor skirt. It's actually the Belay skirt, and not the Belay II. I think mine has a stretchier fabric, but the same style.

What are the pockets like?

Three pockets, zippered. Two hand, reasonable capacity though not as deep as men's trouser pockets but more functional than the typical women's pocket, and a right side cargo pocket big enough for wallet or smart phone, maybe both depending on thickness. No rear pockets.
