skirts do get noticed even if not commented upon aloud.

Post by couyalair »

At the end of my hike in el Chorro (see pics section), I sat down in a café to wait for the train home. As a group of Brits were getting up to leave a nearby table, I overheard "Train drivers in Sweden have been wearing skirts, as they're not allowed to wear shorts." Presumably I had been the subject of some muttered conversation. I thought it was interesting to hear that the recently discussed skirting in Sweden had come to the notice of people that were obviously not the slightest bit interested in men's skirts (they looked quite old and staid).
Another couple I chatted with and then traveled back with made no mention of my attire at all.

El Chorro is a very impressive place. The narrowness of the gorge just has to be seen to be believed. I remember standing by the river and looking up towards the narrowest part. High up there appeared to be some sort of tiny ledge, too straight to have been formed naturally. I later learner that it was El Camino del Rey. Now that is a place where I doubt you would see anyone in a skirt, so I've started a new thread for it in Off Topic. http://www.skirtcafe.org/forums/viewtop ... 41&t=15883

Back on topic, those people had read about the Swedish train drivers, and seeing you jogged their memories. So now they know men don't just wear skirts as a form of protest! And such reinforcement of the notion of a man in a skirt is exactly what we want.
Keep on skirting,

Alastair
