Re: Mannish tailoring for women (again)

A favourite winter look for me is my floor-length full purple skirt with my red brocade double-breasted waistcoat with a contrasting-colour shirt underneath. It's certainly not a rig for the insecure, but it does make a powerful statement when I wear it! Miss out the waistcoat and I could go for so...

Re: Mannish tailoring for women (again)

Men don't wear skirts because they don't make skirts for men. They don't make skirts for men because men don't wear skirts. As I see it, there are two ways to break this cycle: 1. Designer-led. That means designers create skirts for men, perhaps exclusive styles at first and male celebrities are se...

Re: Mannish tailoring for women (again)

Judging by the photos posted on this site, the men's dept would still not have anything frilly, flouncy, shiny or flowery - I for one wouldn't want anything like that. I believe this is a matter of personal taste. I have several skirts in all of the categories listed above, some of which have more ...

Re: Mannish tailoring for women (again)

I am infuriated when I go into Target and see that the women’s section is 10 times the size of the men’s section. There is absolutely no variety in the men’s section yet you can get lost in the women’s. In fact there are more jeans, pants and shorts in the women’s section than there are in the men’...

Someone wrote : "Even now it is kilt or denim, nothing else... I can't see me ever wearing my latest skirt in public, a black and maroon floor length full circle chiffon ... There is no way I could pluck up the courage to wear that, comfy in the house though!" (from another thread) That w...

Re: CD or TV?

So are you saying, Grok, that wearing skirts is at least partly a sexual thing? I've often wondered about that myself. Most members say they wear skirts because they are the most comfortable garment on a hot day, but we have members in countries where high temeratures are rarely a problem - not leas...

I'd heard that elsewhere, though I've no idea why. You might think that being in a minority they might have empathy for other minorities, but apparently not.

Hello from the west of Scotland

I've been lurking for a wee while but I have decided it's time to sign up and speak up! I'm a long-time would-be skirt wearer and I've worn some in private when the opportunity has arisen, but now I'm trying to pluck up the courage to go public. I've owned a kilt for years and as I only wear it on t...
