Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

We’ve had some warm and sunny weather lately and I’ve taken to doing some long walks with bare legs and sandals. Most people probably don’t notice my skirt or, if they do, they pass by with no comment but yesterday a lady smiled at me and said “Nice and airy” - just hope I heard her right and she wa...

Re: New to the cafe, a bit about myself.

Welcome to the cafe Kevino19, As others have stated you will find a lot of support and advice from other members. Most of us have had to deal with the same issues you mention and I certainly value the encouragement and help I’ve received from being a member. I now wear a skirt virtually every day - ...

Re: Hello from VA

I'd like to add my welcome too. As several others have already said your predicament resonates with many of the members of the cafe. I faced the same problem and still do to some extent. Unfortunately logic (women can wear what men traditionally wear - trousers/shirts/ties etc. - without any comment...

Re: Gone Quiet

I think we are in a golden place in time in the UK. It is unremarkable now to see a man in a skirt on the street. What does seem remarkable is that you rarely see a woman in a skirt on the street now either. It may be because it is winter but in a carriage on the underground the other day there wer...

Re: Hello from Galicia, NW Spain

Hola John, Welcome to the cafe. I spent two weeks in La Palma just before Christmas and wore a skirt the whole time. Although it is the Canary Islands rather than mainland Spain I had no adverse comments either in restaurants or simply when walking about. Most people probably didn’t even notice, so ...

Re: Upskirting - Should the gender of the skirt wearer matter?

I actually wonder if the identity of the skirt matters any more than the person wearing it. This thread lies under the main heading of "Advocacy & Mens Skirts "( sic - for lack of an apostrophe). I would rather the main heading was simply "Advocacy & Skirts". We have some...

Re: Hello from the Desert Southwest.

Welcome to the cafe Wadar. I'm in Wales, UK and like the Emerald Isle we do not have any deserts here either, and it rains a lot too, but still a good place to wear skirts. There is a wealth of advice and support ready and waiting for you.

Re: What's wrong here?!

So, What is wrong here? This is a thread that is under "Skirts and Kilts for Men" - whatever happened to rule 2 of this cafe? In case anyone needs reminding Rule 2: ". No politics, unless related to skirts/kilts. No religion, unless related to skirts/kilts. These topics were banned be...

Re: Another small step

… so as there are no purists in the N.E. of Scotland where you hail from Stevie, I wonder why you call it a kilt and not a skirt. The answer to your question is context. It is quite ‘normal’ to see a Scotsman in a kilt in Scotland and indeed elsewhere in the UK but Bird is not Scottish and Gravesend...

Another small step

Yesterday, with my OH, I went to see the film "Bird" at our local arts centre (it gets excellent reviews, e.g. https://www.theartsdesk.com/film/bird-review-travails-unseen-english-tween ). It concerns the trials and tribulations of a young girl from a deprived background going through the ...

Re: MOTIVATIONS

Strangely enough I didn’t see Stu’s initial posting as an attempt to put MIS in boxes, in fact the exact opposite. The vast majority of Western men are trapped in the small box which is at the very centre of FranTastic444’s x,y chart. Society’s expectation is that men wear drab suits, trousers (pant...

Re: MOTIVATIONS

Thank you Stu for initiating this thread - it has made me think and has produced some really thoughtful and insightful responses from others. It is of course a very western way of analysing MIS as in quite a few countries it is not something that men really need to think about as skirt wearing by me...
