Re: Opposite Sex Twins

FYI - 'Opposite Sex Twins' are generally referred to as Fraternal Twins, as opposed to Identical Twins. I've seen several Fraternal Twins dressed the same or wearing 'hand-me-downs' from older twin siblings. Uncle Al  :ugeek:  Fraternal twins can just as easily be same-sex as oppo...

Re: Spotted on Pinterest

One sign in our favor is most of the "drag bans" which have been passed in the US have been struck down or limited in the scope they can be enforced by the courts. (I noted that since of the common categories of anti-trans laws being proposed, "drag bans" are the ones most likely...

Re: HiViz skirt used in shorts protest

This may not be a case of sex discrimination if a "binwoman" would be required to wear trousers as well (since it looks like the rule is in place for safety reasons - and not sex/gender norms as is often the case).

Re: Real World Harm

At least in the US, speaking from a legal perspective, if males wearing dresses would normally be against workplace/school/etc. policy, it looks like one would have grounds for a medical accommodation here. If those policies were based on safety regulations, the issue would become a lot murkier. Go...

Re: Being fired for not conforming to masculine stereotypes

@Layne - I do (mostly) agree with your point about employers - but only when the same standards apply to everyone (subject to reasonable accommodations for religion/disability/etc.). If an employer allows women but not men to wear skirts/have long hair/etc.*, then that does not apply to everyone and...

Re: Being fired for not conforming to masculine stereotypes

no press releases from the A.C.L.U. According to posts on the ACLU's Facebook page, they have taken up lawsuits against at least two anti-transgender Trump actions: A ban on medical facilities from providing gender-transition medical care to those under 19, and a rule that passports must show the b...

Re: MIS Skews Older?

Nowadays, with gender-non-conformity not being as frowned upon in the rising generation, I think it's more of a bimodal distribution now. Indeed, and it's complicating things greatly for the vast majority identifies as "straight", This causes the garment to be incorrectly construed as a f...

Re: US Senate dress code

If you had been skirt wearing well before the election would you have been elected? If so then it would have been difficult for them to object to you wearing a skirt anytime. If you're presenting as female or non-binary: Probably no problem, and if there is an objection there's a good chance you'd ...

Re: MIS Skews Older?

If you had asked this question in the early days of this forum, I would've agreed about the age skewing older. Nowadays, with gender-non-conformity not being as frowned upon in the rising generation, I think it's more of a bimodal distribution now. (It seems like there are relatively few of us who a...

Re: Mississipi School Discriminate Transgender Girl

What you have just said MB is key to the problem. Women and girls have been accepted as being able to anything men and boys can. It is not the same for men and boys and It is all enforced in a authoritarian manner Indeed, note that ALL of the trans bans in sports ONLY apply to transgender women/gir...

Re: Skirts in Schools - No hope for boys

I happened to do a bit of searching on the website for the school district I graduated from (many years ago) and ran onto a notice about the (current) dress code for the senior activities that require formal attire. They have "Option 1" and "Option 2" which appear to be alternate...

Re: The right time is now

Would you side with a business who only wants whites representing their brand? Or, using characteristics that are ostensibly within the control of the employee (analogous to feminine-presenting men), only Christians? If not, then you're creating your own double standard. ETA: After using religion as...

Re: News Media Stuck 80 years in the Past

I wonder what would happen if a senator identified as nonbinary and refused to wear the tie and dressed in an androgynous manner. It probably depends on whether he still wants to present and be seen as "male" or not. (I'm using he/him pronouns since this hypothetical senator's motive is c...

Re: Gender based dress code implemented -- it has happened

This case got me thinking of another one a few years ago involving a high school graduation ceremony that I read about somewhere (but was never challenged in court AFAIK). In that case, it wasn't about a gendered-language policy and a trans person being treated as their biological/assigned-at-birth ...
