Re: Men's Skort - at Marks and Spencer!!!

The lady wearing the skirt has to be deliberate. What are they so scared of? M&S are not scared of anything. They just used a cropped picture from Wolfskin women's website and changed the text from women to men and threw it on the website to show they are progressive. I think perhaps they are s...

Re: Article on de-gendering fashion

When men experience female gendered clothes they often say they experience a sense of euphoria. Once experinced it is nigh on impossible to give up, They also experience a sense of freedom and calm. All good things. Why would you abandon such a feeling? Women on the other hand are born into it, it i...

Re: 10 British Manners Nobody Remembers Today

Only one thing I'd argue BM., it wasn't women, it was war, especially 1914-1918 that created the beginnings of change. The horrors of the first and the outcome of the second world war meant that the false constructs of a hypocritical society could not be tolerated in this country. I'm pretty sure t...

10 British Manners Nobody Remembers Today

Those of us born in the UK (and maybe in America?) will remember life described in video below: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nQ4mRkc5P5M There might be manners that nobody remembers today but the strict rules of the time were only on the surface. Scratch the surface and a whole other world was wa...

Re: Skirts in foreign lands

It does. What were your observations when in Poland, and what era -- some hope? It was 1995 so a long time ago now. So my memory from then is not long after the berlin wall came down. East Germans and Polish were generally quite stiff. Men are men mentality. In my view there was and still is a big ...

Re: Welcome from Bristol UK

I’ve explored several museums and art galleries in London in a skirt and felt very comfortable. The atmosphere is calm and quiet and people are mostly there to look at the exhibits. And anyone who does notice will be the kind of person who doesn’t mind. Go for it! I went to the National Gallery in ...

Re: Skirts in foreign lands

I truly wish those posting here would speak from experience and not from their own suspicions, prejudice or bias about wearing skirts in other lands. I lived in Berlin for two years in my work as a civil engineer and visted Poland many times. Now back in the UK my kids attend a catholic school wher...

Most Polish men I've met seem to think they are MMA fighters. Be careful.

Re: Does any walk of life still make women wear skirts?

Just that really, at least in the UK or US. Asking as it used to be lawful to bar women wearing trousers due to "convention" and public image. Now both trousers and skirts are so common for females is effectively unlawful to require skirts. Only possible exceptions maybe religions eg. Ort...

I agree TB. MIS is a fringe group that would like nothing more than society acceptance and yet there is no acceptance of other groups which have similar aspirations.
Inclusivity is easy, just accept and welcome.

Kieran, absolutely contact River Island customer service. It is appalling behaviour. All we have to do is imagine what would happen if a lady was refused a men's shirt.
