Have fun.
I’ll second that. You will be self conscious at first but that passes quickly.

Re: Hypothethical Question

I think we need to stop talking about gender. I am a man who wears a dress, pure and simple; this has no effect on my gender or masculinity. In the words of one of my sons ‘you’re just the same as you always were’.

Talk about gender moves the issue from where it should be.

Re: That rare male compliment

A couple of weeks ago, in Tesco, a man passed behind me and muttered ‘nice dress’ as he went by.

He reminds me more of a pantomime dame than just a man in a dress.

It’s the visual equivalent of a dad joke.

Re: Purses! or should that be curses?

While I keep some coins in the car in case I encounter a parking machine that doesn’t use an app I never carry any and so don’t need a purse.

Probably getting my hand down the toilet bowl to remove the brown and smelly after one of my offspring has ‘logged’ it.

Re: Pretty Skirts?

Pretty used as an adjective is a lazy option. It’s a non-word, like nice and good descriptive writing should avoid it.

Re: So my wife got me a handbag for Christmas….

At this time of year I tend to wear a coat or top, which will hold all my stuff and makes a bag unnecessary. When it gets warm enough to do without a top I use a bag - a black cross body bag. I think that if you’re wearing a dress, the addition of a bag is neither here nor there. With a skirt I migh...

Never heard of him before.

I agree with Stevie. MIS will only move forward by ordinary men who aren’t otherwise in the public eye are out and about in a dress.

What have you discovered through wearing skirts and dresses?

I’ll start the ball rolling. I have discovered colour. Having been a typical dark colours man I now know that pink, in various hues, suits me, as do several other colours I would have shunned. Patterns, floral or otherwise. That it’s enjoyable not to be invisible in public. I get more smiles than sc...

Forever young man! Forever young!
That goes without saying; you don’t need to dress like a teenager to stay young but do enough exercise throughout your life to achieve this. Dressing like a teenager is more the stuff of the midlife crisis.

Re: More gender neutral retail

Urban outfitters have shops in every major UK city. My offspring buy clothes there. They are well overpriced and the target market seems to be teenage to mid 20s. Not for old giffers in skirts and dresses, like us.
