Re: Skort Question

Stevie my question seems to be lost in the ether. What about a skort kilt? Would that work? Responding to the question of whether a "skort kilt" would work. Personally I don't think so mainly for reasons of practical garment design. I wear both skorts and kilts but think of them as totall...

Re: Converse are making Knee boots again

They are also making a cool mary-jane style as well, but very limited sizing. :( https://www.converse.com/shop/p/chuck-taylor-all-star-dainty-mary-jane-womens-low-top-shoe/A11551MP.html?q=mary%20jane Seems to be only available on the US site and as you say, not many sizes. The XXLHi (knee boots) ar...

Re: Never-mind 'Boyfriend'. How about 'Girlfriend'?

So Its doubtful "girlfriend" anything will catch on in the men's wardrobe realm. I tied "girlfriend jeans" once and they were the most unsatisfactory jeans I ever tried. They didn't fit me as well as men's jeans and they did not exhibit the womens' fit that often works so well o...

Re: Never-mind 'Boyfriend'. How about 'Girlfriend'?

......For the sake of equality, how about 'Girlfriend Skirts', Girlfriend Dresses' and 'Girlfriend Tights', for example, being similarly available for Men to buy? Well Next are now selling "girlfriend jeans" but curiously they are not meant for men. "Girlfriend jeans are cut to sit h...

Re: First steps in tights

........ And lots of guys find they like the silky compression feel of tights against their legs. Absolutely. Fantastic feeling. And tights under leggings, yoga pants or jeggings, even better still - fabulous. As an active man I find the compression on my legs reduces tiredness and leg fatigue, I c...

Re: The pleated skort as worn by Emma Raducanu

Realistically, its got me thinking about splurging on one of the kilts that has this sort of design - a contrasting color within the pleats. Do give that a try, you will enjoy it I am sure. I have a couple and love them. I can heartily recommend the Celtic Countries online store for these https://c...

Re: Observations.....

Oh, there's no doubt that people DO notice, that's to be expected, but, like denimini said, such encounters last only a moment and then it's over, they go their way and you go yours. Yes, and it's the same for me. By which I mean that I notice al the time what other people are wearing. I actually f...

Re: Pockets differences

I'm a pockets person, but mostly I like to put my hands in them if they are at the hip. Tom Yepp, me too. It's always a big disappointment to try on a new skirt (or any other garment from "the other side") and find that it fits and feels good, only to discover I can't get my hands into th...

Re: Earthbound Trading Unisex Dress

Earthbound Trading is now marketing a unisex dress! https://www.earthboundtrading.com/ivy-pocket-muscle-dress Surely this is just the same as an Indian Shalwar Kemeez (see also "kurta pajama"), they have been acceptable (sometimes expected) dress for men (and women) for ages. And they loo...

Re: A new gateway garment?

I just cannot fathom why so many people expect men’s shorts to go down to the knee, but for women it is totally acceptable to go much shorter. I'm with you all the way there. The knee-length men's shorts that fill the shops these days look ridiculous and feel all wrong. I feel swamped wearing them....

Re: Pantyhose / Tights Reviews and Recommendations for the Taller Gentleman

I have always enjoyed wearing tights, mostly under trousers or jeans for warmth, but have had many disappointments. The waistband on most is my biggest cause of discomfort and dissatisfaction, especially high-waist designs. But I have found the ideal solution in the so called "hipster" tig...

Thank you denimini, that's good advice. I have a corduroy skirt with short pleats that fits that description and it works very well. And your advice on shopping in charity shops is much valued. Who'dathoghtit? :-)
