Re: Bride gets to grips with skirt-wearing man

It's a curious custom that the bride is expected to receive all of the attention on a wedding day. And that it's considered "her day". This is not a rant, just mentioning a curious custom... Why is this? I would guess that this custom goes back to the Roman era, when the power ( Res mancipi = Right...

Re: Skirts and health?

Some years ago there was an article in I believe the Scottish Guardian or so. It revered to research executed by a Dutch doctor with the Erasmus Universiteit who had done research on the effects of skirt wearing, or as it was for Scotland kilt wearing, and indicated that such would be much healthie...

Re: Artsy skirts

Are the people at your work already familiar with the fact that you skirt or have you skirted around the issue? If not, maybe better to aks your boss what his/her opinion is on a man wearing a skirt or kilt at the office. If it's OK, I would start of with something less outspoken.

Re: Fashion media promoting skirts for men

If you do search quite carefully, you will find quite a few collections with men in skirts and dresses. But, to my earlier point, what is frustrating is that for a retailer, there is virtually zero commercial risk in marketing a skirt for a man. What is the worst thing that can happen? Men don't bu...

Re: Fashion media promoting skirts for men

I've noticed quite a few articles recently in the fashion press (e.g. Vogue) proudly stating that skirts and dresses are now a "thing" for men. That's great, but how and when will this translate onto the high street? What retailer(s) will be willing to take a commercial risk to promote it? Until (i...

Re: feeling the breeze

It is hard to cater for The Men in Skirts as each wears his own style of clothes..... Perhaps there will never be a uniformity in Men in Skirts Fashions in our lifetimes........................... My comment is ......................Carry on Skirting......Skirting is the Issue.........................

Re: Custody battle in Texas over 7-year-old transgender

The Dutch modern woman, liberated and tough. They will bicker over whether her husband has put the dishcloth back in the right spot and all what the man is good for is acting like an ATM. The answer in this situation is to practise selective breeding to remove that attitude from the population. Sim...

Re: Custody battle in Texas over 7-year-old transgender

Mother: Apparently stinks at finding good men... Seriously, thanks for the list, but yet the mind boggles as to how two people so opposed right down to their basic wiring could manage to have a relationship, or have children for that matter... You have no idea how common that idiom is. Women, for s...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

Yesterday was our anniversary. My wife asked me to wear this skirt when we went out to eat, after doing some minor mending on it earlier in the day. I think I looked more normal than some in the restaurant who wore shorts in January or torn jeans. DSCF4253cs.jpg I would have opted for longer socks.

Re: Sightings "in the wild"

Café is used in French also for the place one drinks his coffee. More often Bar/Tabac is used or Bistro(t), but such mostly when one can have lunch/diner there also. Bistrot is a small Bistro. And just to wander even further afield, bistro is not French but is a Russian word meaning 'quickly'. It's...
