Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
OK, my intention at the moment is to go for it on Wednesday on a different site to what I work on, and Thursday in my normal site. Hopefully on Thursday it will be very quiet so I can get used to it first. I have spoken with my immediate colleagues (bar 4) about it, they are all supportive, but when...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
I do prefer fuller skirts. It's not that it happens a lot, but it is just at the back of my mind.
I'm sure it will be OK once I finally do it!

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
I've got a friend who has offered to take me shopping, so hopefully in the next few weeks I will see what she suggests. I do have more in the way of skirts than trousers, but I feel just not appropriate. I have to admit my biggest fear isn't really about wearing skirts in public, I have done that in...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
Thanks for all the tips and advice. I spoke with my manager with a colleague the other day, he has changed his tune a little. So hopefully, I will be able to do it soon. I was away on a course for a week, so it wasn't really possible to sort anything out last week. I just need to sort my pain medica...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
Software design, yeah that is a little more relaxed. But with engineering because where I had worked at we deal with contractors and clients a lot hence it wasn't the same as just being stuck out in the back office looking pretty. I have a meeting scheduled with my LM on Monday with my confidant, so...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
That's amazing. If you don't mind, what kind of work and what location are we talking about? I'm an Engineer, I have worked in several places from broadcasters to government departments. At present I am Software Engineering which is a little different. Writing code, so don't really interact with th...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
Really? Who goes suit and tie when they don't have to? Everywhere I have worked so far it's been the same no dress code, but still get those in suits. I do occasionally but only when I have meetings. That's usually the case, but take your lead from the men and lean towards business-formal, even if ...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
I'm not really asking for "permission", I just thought it would be a good idea to let people know so it wasn't a huge shock to them. I have worn skirts and dresses since I was able to dress myself. But growing up in the 80's I was always told it was "wrong". Hence I am a little w...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
Thanks for all your replies. Did you ever wear a skirt to your previous job in London? Reading your older posts I see that you were all geared up to do it, but then things went quiet. The intentin was there, but then where I was working started going downhill, change in personell, eventually the dep...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
It's a casual office, I tend to wear jeans in the Winter and Shorts in the summer. The skirts I have are pleated, one red, one pastel pink. Both are pretty long. I do have other skirts as well, but that is all they have seen so far. Just a question as to how to discuss it and get the support of my l...

Re: So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
I should point out that I have shown my colleagues who know pictures of what I have, they say it should be OK. But would prefer something a little more suitable for an office environment.

So, I have been away for some time, so thought I would
re-introduce myself. The last time I came on here, I was working in London, living in Berkshire, UK. I have since moved jobs and now based in Wiltshire. It is a rather rural area that I live in. Even though my job is no longer in London, I still do travel to London on work meetings. So... I am still...

Re: What to wear
It's not a conventional prosthesis, it is implanted so none of the normal problems you get with the suction.
I tend to wear shorts a lot, very rarely do I wear long trousers, even in the mid of winter so that shouldn't be a problem

Re: What to wear
pencil skirts are no good. I have never worn one, but if it is a case of using the knees to much I will struggle. I only have one leg, hence anything that restricts movement will be a problem.
I will wonder into M&S and see what they have, maybe even click and collect.

Re: What to wear
thanks for all the responses, I already own a number of skirts/dresses, I think I probably have more skirts than what I have trousers. But they are all very girly. I do have a red pleated one which is ankle length. I am just thinking about going out in public now, I would like to progress to flowery...
