Re: Will Skirts Ever be Mainstream for Men?
This refers nicely to the "two camps" that have been referred to in the past -- and it dovetails perfectly with Stu's assertion of skirts-as- signifier . I think that there are as many camps as there are people. We are all individuals with unique histories, influences and genetics. If som...

Re: Skirt from a pillowcase?
I fear that there would be more ripping noises if you attempted a long stride in that. Cut it in half and make two miniskirts :]

Re: Where will we be in say... ten years?
I don't think skirts for men will ever be normalized in Western society, and truthfully, I really don't care. As long as it's not criminalized I'll be just fine. :) I would second that. That is very much my thinking, we can wear skirts now and it does not matter if it is not a popular choice for ot...

Re: Will Skirts Ever be Mainstream for Men?
I personally don't care if skirts will ever be mainstream for men, they probably are not mainstream for women either now but women can still choose to wear them when they like .................. and so can we with few restrictions, which is all that matters. From my experience and observation; a per...

Re: New Adventure begins
Congratulations on your nickle and brass anniversary. I am surprised that you are talking about returning to your roots so soon, but I certainly can understand that, especially when you are still calling it home. I probably missed some points in your post with GOP and red and purple. In Australia Re...

Re: Where will we be in say... ten years?
Not much has happened as far as men wearing skirts in the wider world, in the past 9 years. On a personal level there have been huge progress in many of our lives regarding breaking clothing conventions.

Re: Pride
Wear what you would normally wear, then you are being yourself. I sometimes go shopping in Broken Hill during "Broken Heel" week, wearing a mini skirt as usual, and I am sure that most people don't think I am a participant. Like many words in many languages, they can have different meaning...

Never had TV when I was a child so I guess that my parents and extended family were the main influence I had.

Re: Trousers, Women have more....
The sad thing is that if men broadly took up wearing skirts they would soon "brownwash" them too. I think it is more being conservative, which leads to boring. When I was in my teens and twenties I wore women's pants because they fitted me better, being a skinny guy, and there was a much b...

Jerimiah or Methuselah, my brother wore a kaftan when he married his first wife and that was a long time ago, probably half a century.

Re: Man in skirt wins Eurovision
Great. A nice flowy mini skirt too. Lots of activity and air movement with very little unwanted exposure which gives one a lot of confidence about wearing that style of skirt. Perhaps not pink for me but I have similar in teal. It will be an event like this that stimulates the interest in skirt wear...

It will still be a long time before the retailers place skirts and dresses in the menswear category. Perhaps just under a banner "Skirts", like "Towels" or "Bed Linen" Talking of towels: They call then shorts but really a mini wrap skirt. https://www.lightinthebox.com/...
