Re: Kilt purchase
I have just been reading again the original posting of this topic from sinned and the subsequent remarks about wearing full highland dress. I never intended to cause him offence. When I started wearing a klt in my youth, I only wore it iwith a plain leather sporran and a scout belt. ( I was in the S...

Re: A Lidl help in the UK
A couple of months ago when Lidls had the kilts on sale, they had plenty of 28-30 and 36-38. I tried on the bigger size but it was too big. Unfortunately they had no 32-34 left which suits me better. I will just have to find out when they are nexy on sale and get there early. I have a tailor made ki...

Re: Kilt purchase
I was in our local newly opend Lidl supermarket store last week, to buy our weekly shopping and to see how much cheaper the food was compared with Tesco or Sainsbury's. One of their weekly specials was Gent's Party Kilts at £19.99- an offer not to be sneezed at when a "proper" hand made ki...

Re: "Man" Bags?
When I was on a round the world trip 11 years ago via LA.SanDiego, Honolulu, New Zealand, Australia and Western Australia. I wore a "bumbag", round my waist to carry keys, diary, wallet and passport. I did this as I was generally travelling about in Tshirt and shorts or trousers and there ...

Kilty, you just beat me to it to say it looks like the Anderson tartan. I have a great friend who is an Anderson and he looks smashing in his kilt.

Last Saturday was the World Pipe Band Chapionships in Glasgow. As well as over 1500 band members weaing their kilts in a large variety of tartans or plain colours, there were thousands of spectators, a large number of whom were wearing tartan kilts. I did see a few non traditional kilts worn by quit...

Re: men in kilts skirts
I was once at an international rugby match in Edinburgh when Scotland were playing Wales. At international matches it is traditional for Scots to wear kilts. As we were making a full day of it, after the match our bus party went on a pubcrawl. Later in the evening when waiting for our coach (bus) to...

Re: A Start to Kilts / Skirts
When I was in Western Australia 9 years ago, i noticed that many men on the beaches wore a wrap round towel so I bought one. It is a long towel, elasicted along one long side with velcro tabs so that it can fasten round the waist to make a skirt. It is opposite of a Scottish kilt with overlap on lef...

Re: Chest hair
I know that in the warm summer weather, we like to wear a very thin top and a dress is lovely to wear but to hide the chest hair, I would weat a plain T Shirt in a coulour that matches the dress. I know that some people wear what in UK we call a vest and is a popular undergarmnt in the other side of...

Re: If you cannot wear a skirt
In this fantastic sunny and warm weather we have been having for the past 6 weeks or so, I have been gardening in my shorts and T-shirt. These are 1970's vintage and are quite short with just 4 inches inside leg. I also have been wearing more formal shorts from the 1990s which have a leg length of 7...

Lifetime kilt wearer
I got my first kilt when I was about aged 4 when I was a page boy at my aunts wedding. As it was during WW2, clothing was rationed but my mother got a friend who was a dressmaker to make a kilt for mef from a piece of tartan. It was supported on a bodice so did nit need a belt. There was enough room...

Re: Kilt purchase
I see that Lidl's supermarkets are selling gents kilts for £19.99 this weekend. Anybody bought one? They are a very light weight material, probably a polyester. Traditional Scottish kilts are usually woolen which sometimes makes them very heavy to wear especially if they get wet.
