Re: First time?

What was it like going out your first time wearing a skirt? It was in 1982 when I was 16. I bought a denim mini skirt from a department store (my first skirt purchase) and decided to wear it around the store and for the 20 minute walk home. I'd been wanting to do this for a while so the feeling was ...

Re: New Skirt

Mate, if you like it and it's comfortable then good for you. Is it as constrictive and tight at the hem as it looks? As for wearing it outside, I agree with Caultron, just do it. You'll most likely be pleasantly surprised at the lack of critical interest from others. Looking at the website, on the r...

Re: PICTURES OF MY SKIRTS

Good on you for posting some pics. I like pic 3 the best. Above the knee is my favored look, and I like the dark tights too. I echo some of the previous responses on public reaction. Having been out skirted several times I wholeheartedly agree that the majority of people will notice you are wearing ...

Re: Out and About -- In the World at Large

what did you wear in your interactions with the world at large today? Today I had the morning off work and had a few errands to do involving a trip to the post office to pick up a package, the supermarket to get some sundry items, and the chemist. I was wearing a just above the knee length khaki / ...

Re: Dresses

I'm a bit of a fan of some dresses, and find them very comfy to wear although I haven't got to the stage where I wear them out and about like my skirts.

My style of dress is similar to my style of skirt, slightly above knee length and flared a bit, A line style.

Mate, that is gold
Was that the extent of the conversation, or did the discussion continue?

Absolutely!

Another cockroach here, enjoying the sub tropical climate which is so conducive to skirt wearing.

Re: What is good (and bad) for a man to wear with a skirt

Love this subject, it was one of the hardest things I had to overcome to begin dressing in skirts in public. Me too. The best advice I got came from a couple of shop assistants who work at my favourite skirt shop (Portmans). I favour dark solid coloured womens tops that are not overtly femme becaus...

Hi Southernskirt,

Good intro, and great to see that you have home support, that certainly makes life a whole lot easier.

Hi Elizabeth, I have only joined about 6 months ago and haven't read a lot of the "older" posts but it's good to see that you know who you are and are happy with it. Well done and congratulations to you - hope you continue looking in here every so often and keep in touch. I'm a relative ne...

Re: How to buy a skirt

With age comes maturity, and with maturity comes confidence, and with confidence comes the ability to walk into any store and go to any department and select something you want. Absolutely. You can't put an old head on young shoulders can you? I would love to wind the clock back a few decades with ...

Re: How to buy a skirt

I was going to say "what a wimp", but then remembered the ruse I used in an op shop (Thrift store) many years ago, saying that it was for a female friend out west  . So yes, it may well ring true, in different ways, for many first timers. Surprisingly, confidence grows quickly, espe...

Re: Pantyhose and tights

?..I think that seeing my leg hair under tights looks a bit untidy... If hairy legs are all that's keeping you away from something you'd like to do, just shave. Not shaving doesn't keep me from wearing tights, but when I do I just go a 50 - 70 denier, no problems at all. A lighted denier, and the h...
