Re: Photobucket

Don't lossless formats like PNG resolve that problem? Obviously that means they aren't quite as efficient, space-saving-wise, as JPG but I think it's a good compromise between lossy compression and full-size uncompressed formats. Yes, PNG format is a very good compromise. It's also possible to edit...

Re: Photobucket

What Moon said. Never have noticed that. In fact, the photo I just uploaded of today's outfit looks the same on my flickr photostream as it does locally. You can also opt out of the automatic tags. It seems flickr learned at least part of a lesson from their reboot four years ago. Site isn't as gre...

Re: Photobucket

I have to say, I've been really pleased with Flickr... I used to be with Flickr until Yahoo started doing horrible things with it, such as assigning unwanted automatic tags and not allowing the user to specify the image sizes on their pages. From a photographer's point of view, the worst thing they...

Re: Photobucket

Photobucket seems to have gone to pot. What is the best (and easiest) app to use in it's place please ? I use Ipernity, designed by photographers for photographers. There is a free option which limits you to uploading 200 MB per month and only the latest 200 photos are visible at any one time (alth...

Re: Couple Withdraw Their Son From School

... If a boy says I want to play with dolls and wear a dress, if we simply said "okay", what harm could happen? Now I'll grant if we start filling the six year olds head with "awww, I see, you are a transgender girl now", "do you know what transgender is?" "We'll ...

Re: Couple Withdraw Their Son From School

The BBC radio programme "Thought for the Day" has broadcast a thoughtful and sympathetic piece on this subject from Professor Tina Beattie. At last, someone from the religious community who is prepared to stand up in public and point out that such prejudice and bigotry cannot be justified...

Re: New online store found

I always try to keep up with new listings on Google for men's skirts This site just popped up the other night. I can't tell where they are located. https://www.uniskirt.com/ I looked at the Terms and Conditions and near the end of the long scrolling window, it says that the legal terms are in accor...

Re: "M" for Maverick

Today I was paying a bill, and the young man (employee) I was talking to was wearing a pair of purple ear rings. Earrings etc. are not so uncommon. In the past it was the stash of sailors instead of a wallet. Nowadays you will see mane men wearing one or two earrings. If I'm not mistaken, if only o...

Händel subsequently moved to England, where among other things, wrote The Messiah . One of our finest Baroque composers! I never get tired of listening to, or sometimes performing his music. There is always something new to discover. :) Incidentally, when Händel came to settle permanently in Englan...

Re: From Yahoo

In the end, we either accept democracy or we don't. Rightly or wrongly, the issue was put to the people in a referendum and they made up their minds as they were entitled to do, and will now have to live with that decision, for better or worse. Democracy isn't just there for when we get the result ...
